Expanding AX Business from AI Infrastructure to Services and Platforms
Samsung SDS is expanding its AX business performance based on the “Multidimensional AI Full-Stack” strategy unveiled at its AX conference, “Real Summit 2026.”
In the AI infrastructure sector, the company was selected as the preferred bidder for a design, build, and operate (DBO) project for a large-scale data center with a capacity of over 200 MW, led by Pacific Asset Management. Through this, Samsung SDS plans to build a track record in executing DBO projects and expand into additional data center businesses, including colocation services that provide customers with data center space and power.
Last August, the company began construction of the “National AI Computing Center,” a government initiative aimed at propelling South Korea into the ranks of the world’s top three AI powers. Construction is underway with a target completion date of 2028.
In the AX and AI services sector, the company secured contracts to build AI and data platforms for the financial industry. It has expanded its AX business in the financial sector, including being selected as the preferred bidder for AI platform construction projects with insurance companies and financial holding companies.
In the AI platform and solutions sector, the AI collaboration solution “BritiWorks” has recently secured a contract with the National Police Agency and is spreading to major government ministries, reaching a cumulative total of 330,000 users in the public sector.
The company also strengthened its AI service portfolio by launching “BritWorks CoWork,” an AI assistant that independently plans tasks based on work instructions and searches and analyzes internal corporate data to draft documents.
In the security sector, the company became the first Korean firm to be selected as a pilot partner for OpenAI’s “Dawnbreak Partner Program,” and subsequently joined Google’s “Fairwind” and Anthropic’s “Security Verification Program.” Through these initiatives, it is strengthening cybersecurity cooperation with global AI companies.
Robot Demonstrations at Samsung Affiliates’ Sites… Expanding Investment in Air Logistics
Samsung SDS has also set out to secure growth engines through physical AI partnerships and strategic investments.
It has formed the robotics partnership “Team Rex” with Physical AI companies such as Rainbow Robotics and Walden Robotics to solidify its Physical AI business.
Last August, the company validated use cases for robots in industrial settings—identified jointly with Samsung affiliates—in collaboration with global Physical AI firms such as Walden Robotics and RoboForce, confirming their feasibility. It is currently conducting pilot projects at Samsung affiliates’ sites and plans to expand the scope of application and the number of participating affiliates based on the results.
It also acquired a 100% stake in Woojung Air, a company specializing in air cargo consolidation. Cargo consolidation involves gathering shipments from multiple shippers for transport. Through this acquisition, Samsung SDS plans to expand its air freight business, focusing on cargo originating from Incheon and cargo from Asia transiting through Incheon.
Meanwhile, Samsung SDS is scheduled to hold a groundbreaking ceremony in early November for the Gumi AI Data Center, which will be built in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, with an initial power capacity of 60 MW.
