DongBang Medical Co., Ltd. announced on the 29th that it had obtained this license to establish a human tissue bank under the “tissue importer” category. Consequently, operating within a strict legal management system covering everything from the collection to the processing, storage, and supply of human tissue, the company has now acquired the official qualifications to exclusively handle the safe storage, distribution, and import of human tissue.
Securing this infrastructure is directly linked to the establishment of a distribution network for “VELUCELL,” a premium extracellular matrix (ECM)-based skin booster set to enter the market soon. The company plans to use this license as a springboard to solidify the foundation of its human tissue-based business and maximize competitiveness in the ECM sector, a key new business area.
Recently, the domestic dermatology and aesthetic market has been shifting toward ECM skin boosters—which faithfully replicate the unique biological structure and components of human-derived tissues—moving beyond traditional skin booster materials such as hyaluronic acid (HA), PDRN, and PDLLA. In fact, as related premium products are being launched one after another, the market size is expanding rapidly.
However, given that ECM materials are derived from human tissue, ensuring safety throughout the entire production cycle—from the initial cell removal process to precision processing, sterilization, and strict quality control—is considered a key factor determining success.
Earlier this past April, DongBang Medical Co., Ltd. announced the signing of a licensing and distribution agreement for ECM skin boosters, presenting a roadmap for entering this new market. With the establishment of this tissue bank, the company plans to further enhance the professionalism of its distribution processes while also diversifying its medical aesthetics portfolio by launching “Bellucell” on the market in the near future.
An official from DongBang Medical Co., Ltd. stated, “Demand and interest in high-value-added human-derived materials, including ECM, have been growing explosively in the aesthetic market recently,” adding, “Through this official designation as a tissue bank, we will enhance the professionalism and transparency of human tissue management and achieve market differentiation for our flagship new product, ‘Bellucell.’”
