[E-Daily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] Samsung SDS (SAMSUNG SDS CO., LTD.(018260)) is aiming for double-digit growth in IT service revenue next year, driven by increased corporate investment in artificial intelligence transformation (AX). The company plans to broaden its growth foundation by expanding AI infrastructure—including data centers and graphics processing unit (GPU) services—and by growing its enterprise AI platform and robotics businesses.

Kim Tae-ho, Executive Vice President of Management Support at Samsung SDS, said during the third-quarter earnings conference call held on the 29th, “We are targeting double-digit growth in IT service revenue next year,” adding, “Internally, we are putting the finishing touches on our plans to generate over 1 trillion won in revenue next year.”

Samsung SDS’s consolidated operating profit for the third quarter of this year was 241 billion won, a 3.7% increase compared to the same period last year. Revenue rose 11.2% to 3.7725 trillion won, while net income decreased 10.1% to 180.7 billion won.

“AX Revenue to Double This Year”…Expansion of External Orders
AI and cloud are at the heart of this
year’s
growth. Samsung SDS’s third-quarter cloud revenue totaled 796.1 billion won, an 18% increase year-over-year. In particular, external revenue surged by 92%, driving this growth.

Vice President Kim stated, “We project that the AX business will more than double year-over-year,” adding, “We expect it to be a key driver of future cloud growth.” He forecast that cloud revenue would account for nearly 50% of total IT services revenue in the fourth quarter.

The financial and public sector AX businesses, along with the manufacturing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) business, serve as the primary growth drivers. The company explained that demand for AI adoption is leading to data standardization, the redesign of business processes, and improvements to existing systems, thereby expanding the scope of its business.

Song Hae-gu, Executive Vice President and Head of the Solutions Business Division at Samsung SDS, said, “We expect ERP orders this year to grow by more than 20% year-over-year, with external orders in particular expected to more than double,” adding, “We are also aiming for a 40% year-over-year increase in revenue from external implementation projects next year.”

“Vera Rubin Service to Launch Next March”…Data Center Expansion
In the AI infrastructure business, the company has finalized schedules for next-generation GPU services and large-scale data center projects.

Lee Jun-hee, CEO of Samsung SDS, said, “The West Wing of the Dongtan Data Center is scheduled to launch B300-based GPUaaS starting at the end of this year,” adding, “We plan to launch next-generation Vera Rubin-based GPUaaS in March of next year, and we expect this to be the first implementation of its kind in Asia.”

GPUaaS is a service that allows customers to utilize the GPU resources necessary for AI development and operations.

The company was selected as the preferred bidder for a design, build, and operate (DBO) project for a data center with a capacity of over 200 MW, which Pacific Asset Management is pursuing in the Seoul metropolitan area.

CEO Lee stated, “We plan to begin designing and constructing the data center as early as the end of this year, with operations set to commence sequentially starting in 2029,” adding, “Based on the strategic partnership between the two companies, we will expand into subsequent data center development and operation projects.”

Samsung SDS plans to expand its AI infrastructure to over 800 MW by 2031 through three business models: direct capital investment, equity investment, and DBO. Among these, the DBO business is projected to generate annual revenue of over 1 trillion won starting in 2031 once the cumulative target of 500 MW is achieved.

The Haenam National AI Computing Center is currently under construction with a target completion date of 2028. To meet demand before completion, the company is also preparing to launch an early service in April of next year by utilizing part of the West Wing of the Dongtan Data Center.

“About 10 Robot Pilot Projects with Affiliates”… Integrated Platform to Launch Next Year
The robotics business is also taking shape, centered on the manufacturing sites of Samsung
affiliates
. Samsung SDS is developing a platform that integrates robot training and operation in collaboration with companies such as Walden Robotics, Rainbow Robotics, Genesis AI, and Roboposs.

CEO Lee stated, “We possess manufacturing IT capabilities, having built MES and automation systems for approximately 1,000 manufacturing sites at affiliate companies and about 430 external clients,” adding, “Based on this, we plan to launch a robot orchestration platform in 2027 that encompasses everything from robot training to operation.”

He continued, “We are currently conducting about 10 pilot projects at Samsung affiliate sites,” adding, “Based on the results of these pilot projects, we will expand the scope of application and the number of affiliates involved.” Going forward, the company plans to advance to a pilot phase where robots are deployed on actual production lines.

Expanding Business into Enterprise AI Management, Public Sector Collaboration, and Security
The enterprise AI platform “Fabrics 2.0” will be launched this week. It is a platform that enables the utilization of multiple AI models and Agent AI in a single location while managing usage, costs, performance, and permissions.

Kim Jong-pil, Vice President and Head of the AX Center at Samsung SDS, said, “Fabrics 2.0 aims to evolve from a conversation-centric platform into one that enables the realization of an enterprise AI work ecosystem.”

It provides a marketplace for sharing and reusing agents and business functions, and helps reduce usage costs by enabling users to select AI models that match the nature of their queries and their budget. The goal is to expand the number of users across affiliated companies from the current approximately 90,000 to over 260,000.

The AI collaboration solution “BritiWorks” is also stepping up its push into the public sector. It currently has 330,000 public sector users, including local education offices.

Vice President Song said, “Next year, we plan to expand our business to local governments, education offices, and public institutions to increase the number of public sector users to over 500,000,” adding, “We also plan to more than double public sector revenue compared to this year.”

In the security sector, the company will integrate AI security assessments with consulting, remediation, and monitoring based on collaborations with OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic.

CEO Lee Jun-hee said, “We expect our security business to grow by about 17% year-over-year this year and to achieve an operating profit margin of 17%,” adding, “We will expand our service lines in response to the proliferation of AI services and Agent AI.”
