[Edaily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] LG CNS (#LG CNS) increased both its revenue and operating profit in the third quarter of this year, driven by growth in its AI and cloud businesses and expanded sales from projects to build next-generation systems for the financial sector.

LG CNS announced on the 30th that it recorded consolidated revenue of 1.6643 trillion won and operating profit of 138.2 billion won in the third quarter. Compared to the same period last year, revenue rose 9.3% and operating profit increased 15.0%.

Revenue in the AI and cloud sectors reached 961.5 billion won, up 9.3% year-over-year. Revenue grew from the construction and operation of the Samsong AI Data Center, as well as from colocation services at AI data centers under managed operation. Colocation is a service that involves installing customer equipment, such as servers, in a data center and providing power, communications, and facility management.

The company also expanded its AI Transformation (AX) business for corporate clients. It carried out projects such as developing an AI transformation master plan for an airport, building an AI-based new drug development platform, and creating an Agent AI for health screenings. It also increased business with corporate clients utilizing global generative AI technologies such as ChatGPT Enterprise and Claude. As AI adoption spread across various industries—including finance, gaming, aviation, and manufacturing—cloud revenue also increased accordingly.

Revenue in the Digital Business Services segment reached 408.2 billion won, a 21.3% increase compared to the same period last year. Revenue recognition expanded as previously awarded next-generation system construction projects for NH Nonghyup Bank, MIRAE ASSET Life Insurance CO., Ltd., and KB Kookmin Bank entered the full-scale development phase. New orders also continued, including the project to modernize the back-end systems of Saemaul Credit Union.

Revenue in the Smart Engineering sector recorded 294.5 billion won, a slight decrease compared to the same period last year, due to the slowdown in the manufacturing sector. The company explained that it expanded its overseas business base by securing smart factory clients in the defense, pharmaceutical, electronics, and battery sectors and by expanding logistics automation projects for Korean companies operating abroad.

LG Corp. plans to strengthen its business competitiveness by focusing on “Agentic AI” services—where AI autonomously performs all business tasks—and the AI infrastructure that supports them. Recently, it became the first Korean company to achieve “Preferred” status in Anthropic’s Claude Partner Network (CPN).

It is also expanding its investment in AI infrastructure. To secure the GPUs necessary for building and operating AI factories, the company acquired tangible assets worth approximately 380 billion won. It has also partnered with global investment firm General Atlantic to jointly invest in enterprise software and AI businesses.

In its Robot Transformation (RX) business, the company is conducting proof-of-concept (PoC) tests at logistics and manufacturing sites based on the robot training and operation platform “PhysicalWorks,” and is expanding its order intake by transitioning these projects into full-scale operations. It is also discussing commercialization with clients in service areas such as patrol, hospitality, and safety.

LG Corp. also plans to strengthen its collaboration with global tech giants such as NVIDIA, Microsoft, and Amazon Web Services (AWS), as well as physical AI companies and robot manufacturers.
