LG Uplus, the Ministry of Education, and Tori Korea signed a “Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Supporting the Operation of the AI and Information Security Gifted Education Institute” on the 31st at LG Science Park in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.

Key officials attended the signing ceremony, including Hong Kwan-hee, Head of the Information Security Center (CISO/CPO, Executive Vice President) at LG Uplus; Kim Do-wan, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Talent Support Bureau at the Ministry of Education; and Cheon Ho-jin, Director of GTM at Tori Korea. The AI and Information Security Gifted Education Institute is an educational institution aimed at identifying and nurturing outstanding talent in the field of information security among middle and high school students nationwide at an early stage.

The three organizations will develop a curriculum covering both information security and AI, and will jointly organize hands-on competitions, expert lectures, and career exploration programs. The Ministry of Education will be responsible for operating the Gifted Education Center and improving the curriculum. Tori Korea will leverage its experience operating the “DreamHack” security education platform to support practical training.

LG Uplus provides infrastructure built up in the fields of security, telecommunications, and AI. The company plans to expand students’ opportunities to solve problems by providing not only the curriculum but also a hands-on training environment that closely resembles real-world security scenarios.

The 12th Information Security Competition, held in conjunction with the signing ceremony, featured a team event in which 48 students selected from gifted education centers across four regions participated. Working in teams, they competed in technical skills and collaboration while solving security challenges. LG Uplus provided the hands-on training space and network environment, while Tori Korea was responsible for devising, administering, and evaluating the challenges.

The top teams received awards such as the Minister of Education Award and the LG Uplus Award. LG Uplus plans to expand its support beyond the competition to include the gifted education centers’ regular educational programs.

Hong Kwan-hee, Head of the LG Uplus Information Security Center, stated, “As AI technology spreads rapidly, the importance of information security professionals who can safely utilize and protect it is growing.” He added, “We will actively leverage LG Uplus’s information security expertise and network and AI infrastructure to nurture future talent, supporting students so they can grow into security experts equipped with real-world capabilities.”
