SOOP announced on the 3rd that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Com2uS Holdings on the 29th of last month at Freak Up Studio in Daechi-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, to collaborate on game development and content.
The core of this collaboration is to utilize streamers active on SOOP as key elements in games. The two companies plan to incorporate the streamers’ personalities and broadcast content into games and link this to actual game development and sales to create new revenue models.
The two companies will collaborate not only on game development but also on joint content planning and marketing. In particular, they plan to pursue the release of games targeting the global market and jointly explore marketing strategies aimed at overseas users.
SOOP will provide streamer IP and live streaming platform operational capabilities, while Com2uS Holdings will handle game development and publishing.
They are also exploring ways to link games with live-streaming content. Com2uS Holdings announced plans to strengthen its competitiveness in the FMV (Full Motion Video) game business through this partnership. FMV games are a form of interactive content where the story unfolds by combining live-action footage with user choices.
Hong Ki-seok, Head of SOOP’s Social Streamer Business Division, said, “This agreement will serve as an opportunity to expand the potential applications of streamer IP into the gaming sector,” adding, “We will strive to provide new content experiences for both streamers and users.”
Son Kyung-hyun, Division Head at Com2uS Holdings, said, “We will introduce differentiated FMV games that organically combine streaming platforms and interactive content, and create new growth opportunities in the global market.”
