KakaoBank Corp. announced on the 4th that its cumulative net income for the first three quarters of this year reached 469.8 billion won, a 25.3% increase compared to the same period last year. Third-quarter net income stood at 141.7 billion won, up 27.2% from the same period last year. Particularly notable is the growth in loans to sole proprietors. According to KakaoBank Corp., more than half (58%) of this year’s net increase in loans was allocated to sole proprietors. As of the end of the third quarter, KakaoBank Corp.’s outstanding loan balance for sole proprietors exceeded 4 trillion won. Total deposit balances surpassed 70 trillion won for the first time. As of the end of the third quarter, deposit balances stood at 71.805 trillion won, surging by approximately 4.7 trillion won in just one quarter. This was driven by growth in both demand deposits and savings deposits. Consequently, total revenue also increased. Cumulative revenue through the third quarter of this year was 2.5292 trillion won, an 8.7% increase from last year. The delinquency rate stood at 0.49%, an improvement of 0.4 percentage points from the previous quarter, contributing to the improved performance. The number of users on KakaoBank Corp.’s platform is also steadily increasing. Monthly active users (MAU) in the third quarter reached 20.57 million, a record high. Cumulative fee and platform revenue for the third quarter totaled 256.3 billion won, a 10.9% increase compared to the same period last year. The company has also laid the groundwork for a non-banking portfolio. In June, KakaoBank Corp. signed a share purchase agreement to acquire 100% of Marston Capital. It plans to expand its business scope into the capital markets in the future. KakaoBank Corp. plans to secure 30 million customers by next year and transform into a comprehensive financial platform with 100 trillion won in assets. A KakaoBank Corp. official stated, “Despite the uncertain external environment, we are achieving balanced growth across all sectors based on our customer base and platform capabilities,” adding, “We will continue to expand inclusive finance and, through the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technology and global expansion, strive to become the comprehensive financial platform that customers choose first.”
