(Photo = GS Retail)Chemifriends is a product developed by RoboCare, a leading domestic robotics company. Using AI-powered autonomous navigation technology, it learns the layout of the home and moves to the desired location when summoned by the user. It can operate for up to 3 hours on a full charge, and when the battery runs low, it automatically navigates to the charger for wireless recharging.
Its main features include daily life management, AI conversation, cognitive training, and emergency calls. It reminds users of medication schedules, mealtimes, and hospital appointments, and enables natural conversation through a ChatGPT-based dialogue feature. It also supports foreign languages such as English, Japanese, Chinese, and Spanish.
If it detects a fall or recognizes an emergency call voice command, it immediately sends a notification to the caregiver, who can then check the user’s activity log via a dedicated app or remotely control the robot to make voice calls.
GS Holdings will offer “Chemifriends” for rent during a TV home shopping broadcast on the 19th. The monthly fee is 97,000 won for a 60-month term, but customers can use the service for 37,000 won per month if they take advantage of the prepayment discount offered during the broadcast.
Kim Jun-tae, MD of the Home Appliances Team at GS Holdings, said, “AI companion robots are a new type of smart appliance that can be used for a variety of purposes, including senior care, single-person households, and children’s education,” adding, “We plan to continue introducing AI appliances tailored to our customers’ lifestyles.”
