[Edaily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] SamsungElectronics(005930)is launching the “Samsung Galaxy Card,” the first credit card bearing the Samsung brand in the U.S. The strategy is to link Galaxy devices with payment and financial services by offering high reward rates for purchases of Samsung products and payments made via Samsung Wallet.

SamsungElectronics announced on the 21st that it is launching the “Samsung Galaxy Card” credit card program for U.S. consumers. General customers can apply starting on the 22nd online and at Samsung Experience Stores across the U.S.

SAMSUNG CARD CO., LTD. issues the Samsung Galaxy Card, which operates on the Visa payment network. There is no annual fee, and it is available as a virtual card or a premium metal physical card featuring a black Samsung logo.

Customers can earn 5% cash rewards on purchases of products and services made through official Samsung online and offline channels. Eligible channels include Samsung.com, Samsung Experience Stores, the Samsung Shopping app, the Galaxy Store, Samsung Care+, and the Samsung Smart TV Store.

Online and in-store payments made via Samsung Wallet earn 3% in cash rewards. Payments for streaming services such as Netflix, Disney+, and Spotify earn 2%, while other general purchases earn 1%.

A 5% cash reward also applies when signing up for or renewing “Samsung VIP Advantage,” the paid membership program on Samsung.com in the U.S., and members receive a 20% discount on the membership fee. New cardholders who spend $2,000 or more within 90 days of receiving their card will also receive an additional $200 in cash rewards.

The SAMSUNG CARD CO., LTD. Galaxy Card is registered in Samsung Wallet immediately upon issuance, allowing users to start using it even before receiving the physical card. Users can check their transaction history and reward balances, as well as manage their card account, directly on their Galaxy device.

Users can also manage other items stored in Samsung Wallet, such as existing payment cards, membership cards, boarding passes, IDs, and digital keys. SamsungElectronics explained that it protects card and payment information using its proprietary security platform, “Samsung Knox.”

This marks the first time SamsungElectronics has launched its own branded credit card. This move is seen as an effort to encourage customers to spend within the Samsung ecosystem by highlighting benefits for purchasing Samsung products—such as smartphones, TVs, and home appliances—while also expanding the user base for Samsung Wallet in the U.S.

Chae Won-cheol, Vice President and Head of the Digital Wallet Team at SamsungElectronics’ Mobile Experience (MX) Division, said, “The Samsung Galaxy Card offers a new way for users to receive benefits with every payment,” adding, “It will simplify complex financial experiences while providing tangible value.”
