[Edaily Reporter kim mi-kyung ] Dongwon F&F is launching a global campaign to promote the history and value of gim, a representative Korean food, to the world.
#Dongwon F&F announced on the 22nd that it has co-produced multilingual video content with Professor Seo Kyung-deok of Sungshin Women’s University, a Korean public relations expert, to introduce the history, cultural significance, and global competitiveness of gim.
This project marks the first initiative in a global Korean cuisine campaign jointly led by Dongwon F&F and Professor Seo Kyung-deok. The company stated that the campaign was planned to introduce the history, traditions, and cultural value of Korean cuisine to overseas consumers amid growing interest in K-food.
The content will be released sequentially as a three-part series, starting with a “History” episode themed “The History of Kim: Why the World Loves It,” followed by a “Culture” episode and a “Global” episode. Broadcaster Moon Se-yoon serves as the narrator, delivering an engaging account of how kim established itself as a representative Korean food and the background behind its growth as a global K-food brand.
The first video introduces the history of seaweed, which dates back to the Silla Dynasty, and explains how the thin, rectangular sheets of seaweed we are familiar with today became the standard form. It also highlights seaweed’s rich nutritional value and its growth as a product exported to over 120 countries worldwide.
Dongwon F&F plans to accelerate its efforts to promote Korean cuisine globally, centered on its Korean Home Meal Replacement (HMR) brand, “Yangban.” “Yangban Kim,” the top brand in the domestic seasoned seaweed market, is exported to over 30 countries, including the United States, Japan, and Thailand. Under the concept of “The Original Taste of Korean Cuisine,” Yangban offers a variety of products that capture the authentic flavors and convenience of Korean cuisine.
A Dongwon F&F official stated, “Seaweed is a food that represents Korean culinary culture and has established itself as a K-food that is attracting global attention,” adding, “We will continue our efforts to promote the value and excellence of Korean cuisine through the Yangban brand.” Professor Seo Kyung-deok said, “With interest in Korean cuisine growing worldwide, I wanted to properly convey the history and significance of seaweed to people around the world.”
