[Edaily Reporter Han Kwangbeom ] The smart building technology solution from “1784,” Naver’s (NAVER(035420)) state-of-the-art headquarters, is being exported to Japan and implemented in a large mixed-use building in Tokyo. This marks the first commercial success of Naver’s smart building technology solution.
Team Naver announced on the 23rd that it is partnering with NTT East and Mitsui Fudosan to implement 1784’s smart building operation technology solution at the “Tokyo Midtown Yaesu” building, located in a key commercial district of Tokyo. Tokyo Midtown Yaesu is a large-scale, 45-story mixed-use complex connected to Tokyo Station, housing offices, commercial facilities, a hotel, a bus terminal, and an elementary school.
This collaboration marks the first commercial implementation of the smart building model that Team Naver has developed and operated through 1784. It holds significant technical symbolism, particularly because the technology has been optimized to enable seamless robot services even in standard buildings lacking specialized facilities—such as robot-dedicated elevators—or a dedicated cloud environment.
Naver, NTT East, and Mitsui Fudosan will first launch a cloud-based autonomous robot delivery service at Tokyo Midtown Yaesu. The service will fully leverage the data on robot sensors, spatial layout, and service execution—as well as the know-how regarding optimal routes and handling of exceptional situations—that Team Naver has accumulated over four years at 1784.
Team Naver provides an integrated technology infrastructure that includes autonomous robots, a cloud-based robot control system, and digital twins. Based on this, Mitsui Fudosan will manage the provision of the robot delivery service and facility integration, while NTT East will be responsible for building the digital twin environment and maintaining and operating the delivery robots.
Team Naver’s core technology convergence solutions—including robotics and cloud technologies—were extensively deployed in this project. Key examples include the indoor autonomous robot “Rookie,” the multi-robot control system “ARC Brain,” digital twins, and the vision-based localization technology “ARC Eye.”
Among these, “ARC Brain” is an orchestration platform that integrates the control of multiple robots’ routes and roles. Through cloud processing, it interfaces not only with robots but also with building facilities such as speed gates and elevators, enabling seamless operation even in large-scale spaces.
Naver, NTT East, and Mitsui Fudosan plan to expand the scale of their robot delivery services while broadening their collaboration across the entire physical AI sector, including indoor AR navigation and digital twin-based building management.
This project was led by Naver Cloud’s Japan Business Development Department and implemented using robotics and vision technologies from Naver Labs. Team Naver plans to continuously refine its core technologies to enable the application of robot services in various buildings regardless of facility conditions, and to fully roll out the 1784 model to sites both domestically and internationally.
Meanwhile, NTT East held a press conference on the 21st (local time) at Tokyo Midtown Yaesu to announce the project. The event featured an introduction to Team Naver’s physical AI technology, along with demonstrations of robot delivery and indoor AR navigation services.
