[Edaily Reporter Kim Yeong-hwan ] Tailim Packaging(011280)is accelerating its production expansion using solar power. Following the installation of solar power facilities at its Cheongwon Campus, the company has also installed them at its Sihwa Plant, raising the proportion of renewable energy used to 23.2%. The company plans to expand its renewable energy-based production system by installing solar power facilities at 80% of its total business sites by 2028.

Tailim Packaging announced on the 23rd that it has published its “2025 Sustainability Report” detailing these initiatives. The report covers last year’s performance in the environmental (E), social (S), and governance (G) areas, as well as the company’s response to climate change, the development of eco-friendly products, and the current status of supply chain management. Since becoming the first in the industry to publish a sustainability report in 2023, Tailim Packaging has been disclosing its ESG management performance and progress annually.

In the environmental sector, the company highlighted its progress in expanding renewable energy. By installing solar power generation facilities at its Cheongwon Campus and Sihwa Plant, the company produces 9,806 MWh of renewable energy annually, with renewable energy accounting for 23.2% of its total energy consumption. Through these efforts, the company expects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 2,639 metric tons per year.

Last year, Tailim Packaging collaborated with E-Land Retail to produce approximately 1.3 million corrugated boxes using electricity generated by solar power. The company explained that this initiative also contributed to reducing its clients’ supply chain carbon emissions (Scope 3).

The company is also pursuing the development of eco-friendly products. Its high-strength, lightweight corrugated cardboard boxes reduce paper usage by up to 20% compared to existing products while increasing strength by 20%; this product won the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award last year.

In addition, the company provides “Packaging Optimization Solutions” that design packaging structures tailored to clients’ products and logistics environments, thereby supporting improved logistics efficiency and indirect greenhouse gas reductions. It also operates an ESG management system for its supply chain, including partner companies.

Tailim Packaging plans to expand its renewable energy-based production system by installing solar power generation facilities at 80% of its total business sites by 2028.

A Tailim Packaging official stated, “The Sustainability Report is more than just a disclosure; it is a key tool that demonstrates the company’s ESG direction and implementation results,” adding, “We will continue to further strengthen our management practices that simultaneously consider environmental and social responsibilities.”
