[Edaily Reporter Yun Junghoon ] Park Yoon-young, CEO of KTCorporation(030200), stated that the company has not yet received an official proposal regarding the “Tving-Wave merger”—the topic of greatest interest in the domestic online video service (OTT) market—and that if a request is made in the future, the company will make a decision after thoroughly reviewing the matter from various angles, including the interests of the company and its shareholders, as well as the impact on the industry.

Speaking to reporters immediately after a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Bae Kyung-hoon and the CEOs of the three major telecom companies held at SKTelecom’s T Tower in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the 23rd, CEO Park drew a clear line when asked about KTCorporation’s stance on the proposed merger between TVING and WAVVE, stating, “We have not received any official request.”

However, CEO Park indicated that if an official proposal were to be made in the future, the company would carefully evaluate the potential benefits.

“If an official request comes, we will have to consider it,” CEO Park said, adding, “Given the rapidly changing content market, there are many factors to weigh, including the company’s interests.”

KTCorporation is a major shareholder of TVING, holding a 13.54% stake through its subsidiary KT Studio Genie. Since the consent of major shareholders is essential for the merger between TVING and Wavve to proceed, KTCorporation’s final decision is considered a key factor that will determine the outcome of the merger.

Regarding rumors circulating in some market circles—such as the potential integration of media affiliates within the KTCorporation—CEO Park dismissed them as misinformation, stating, “While we are considering changes in response to the evolving times, nothing concrete has been decided.”

Meanwhile, CEO Park also presented the vision for “Physical AI,” KTCorporation’s next-generation AI infrastructure strategy. He explained that KTCorporation plans to actively provide the network infrastructure required for physical AI devices, such as robots, by utilizing its approximately 3,500 local offices nationwide as “AI Edge” facilities—essentially forward-deployed data centers. Regarding the ongoing tax audit, he stated, “We are cooperating fully with the National Tax Service’s investigation.”
