[Edaily Reporter kim mi-kyung ] Tous Les Jours, a bakery brand operated by CJ Corp., is raising prices on some of its products. The company decided to adjust prices on certain items due to rising international prices for raw materials and supplies, as well as increasing pressure from exchange rates and oil prices.

#CJ Corp. announced on the 24th that it will raise the recommended retail prices of a total of 76 items, including bread and cakes from Tous Les Jours, by an average of 8.2% starting on the 31st. Notable examples include the “Daily Milk Bread,” which will increase by 200 won, and the “Tous Les Jours Mom’s Egg Toast,” which will rise by 300 won. The company explained that the price adjustment is limited to certain items that have experienced significant cost increases.

According to CJ Corp., this measure is in response to the sharp rise in international prices for various raw materials and supplies—including eggs, wheat, raw sugar, palm oil, and even naphtha used in packaging materials—driven by recent changes in domestic and international conditions. The company also stated that this was an unavoidable decision due to the sustained cost burden resulting from rising exchange rates, oil prices, and other related expenses.

However, out of consideration for consumers, popular flagship products such as “Red Bean Bread,” “Soboro Bread,” and “Castella” have been excluded from this price adjustment.

A CJ Corp. spokesperson said, “We have been striving to minimize price increases, but due to the cumulative cost burden, we have had no choice but to adjust the wholesale prices and recommended retail prices for some products,” adding, “We will continue to strive to provide better quality and service while minimizing the burden on our customers.”
