[Edaily Reporter NA EUN-KYUNG ] SK BIOPHARMACEUTICALS(326030)announced on the 29th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Brazilian pharmaceutical company Eurofarma to expand the Latin American market for the epilepsy treatment “cenobamate.”

This agreement was signed in conjunction with the schedule of the Presidential Economic Delegation’s visit to São Paulo, Brazil. Lee Dong-hoon, President of SK BIOPHARMACEUTICALS, participated in the economic delegation to review the status of Cenobamate’s launch in Brazil and discuss ways to expand research and development (R&D) and business cooperation between the two companies.

Through this agreement, the two companies agreed to pursue the following: △ expansion of the cenobamate business; △ collaboration on the central nervous system (CNS) pipeline; △ joint research and development for rare forms of epilepsy; △ expansion into the Latin American market; and △ expansion of the digital healthcare business through the joint venture “Mentis Care.”

Senobamate is scheduled to be launched in Brazil this August through Europharma. Following its previous entries into Peru and Chile, SK BIOPHARMACEUTICALS plans to fully ramp up its expansion into Latin America by entering Brazil, the region’s largest pharmaceutical market.

The two companies will continue to collaborate on expanding the indications for Cenobamate and enhancing the product’s value, while leveraging Europharma’s local regulatory approvals and distribution network to sequentially expand into additional markets.

They will also strengthen cooperation in the digital healthcare sector. Centered on their existing joint venture, Mentis Care, the two companies plan to advance mobile app-based digital healthcare solutions and develop a platform to support seizure management and health monitoring for epilepsy patients.

Lee Dong-hoon, President of SK BIOPHARMACEUTICALS, stated, “Through this agreement, we are expanding our collaboration not only to expand the market for cenobamate but also to cover our CNS pipeline, research and development for rare forms of epilepsy, and the digital healthcare sector.” He added, “We will continue to work with Europharma to supply cenobamate to patients in Latin America.”
