This product was developed based on an analysis of customer consumption trends and category sales data. GS Holdings found that while sales of the milk tea product line increased by 111% year-over-year in the first half of this year (January–June), its RTD cup beverage lineup—which was primarily focused on coffee and fruit drinks—did not sufficiently reflect the demand for milk tea.
Accordingly, GS Holdings has launched its first private-label milk tea product in its transparent cup RTD beverage lineup to target demand for coffee alternatives.
“Your Royal Milk Tea” is characterized by its smooth and sweet flavor, achieved by blending milk and black tea powder. It comes in a clear cup that allows customers to see the drink’s color and is priced at 1,950 won.
Starting with this product, GS Holdings plans to continuously analyze customer purchase data and category sales data to identify product categories with unmet demand and expand data-driven product development.
Eom Yu-hyun, a Merchandising Director (MD) in the Beverage Division at GS Retail, stated, “This is a strategic product that identifies new demand in the ready-to-drink (RTD) cup beverage market through the analysis of customer purchase data and consumption trends,” adding, “We will continue to expand data-driven product development to strengthen our competitive edge in differentiated food offerings.”
