Memorandum of Understanding on Support with the Tournament Organizing Committee
Plans to Provide Accommodation and Operational Support for Key Participants During Next Year’s Event
[Edaily Reporter KYUNG GYEYOUNG ] HotelShilla, a premium business hotel brand operated by HotelShilla(008770), is providing support to ensure the successful operation of the “World Youth Day” (WYD), the world’s largest event organized by the Catholic Holy See.
On the 30th, Shilla Stay signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the 2027 Seoul World Youth Day Organizing Committee at the Catholic Archdiocese of Seoul in Jung-gu, Seoul, to provide support for domestic and international participants in the World Youth Day event.
World Youth Day is an international event organized by the Catholic Church to foster exchange among young people worldwide. Since its inaugural event in Rome, Italy, in 1986, it has been held every three to four years in major cities around the world, attracting young people, clergy, and church officials from across the globe. With up to one million visitors, it is considered an international event on par with the Olympics and the World Cup. In Korea, it is scheduled to take place in August 2027.
Shilla Stay will support the accommodation and operations for key participants, including delegations of bishops from around the world visiting Korea during the World Youth Day. The company plans to provide guest rooms to ensure smooth accommodation for large groups and offer customized services such as dedicated check-in counters and information desks.
A Shilla Stay official stated, “The 2027 Seoul World Youth Day is a meaningful international event that will showcase Korea’s culture, tourism, and service capabilities to the world,” adding, “We will support the successful hosting of the event by providing the best accommodation services and a distinctive customer experience so that participants and official delegations from around the world can stay comfortably and safely in Korea.”
