[Edaily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] LG CNS (#LGCNES) has been awarded the contract to develop the Artificial Intelligence Transformation (AX) Master Plan for the Korea Airports Corporation. The company will establish a mid- to long-term roadmap for applying AI across the operations of 14 airports nationwide, including Gimpo, Gimhae, and Jeju.

LG Corp. announced on the 5th that it has been awarded the KoreaAirportService Corporation’s “KAC AI Master Plan (ISMP) Development” project.

This project involves establishing a mid- to long-term strategy and implementation roadmap for applying AI to the operations of 14 airports nationwide. With the goal of “realizing the airport of the future through AI innovation,” KoreaAirportService is pursuing a total of 50 AI innovation initiatives starting in 2025.

Through this project, LG CNS will refine KoreaAirportService’s AI strategy and develop a phased master plan. The company will focus on identifying core AI services applicable to airport operations, such as optimizing airport operations, innovating customer service, and establishing safety management systems.

To this end, LG CNS will handle the entire process—from AI strategy consulting to AI and data architecture design, AI governance establishment, proof-of-concept (PoC) for key projects, and the development of an implementation plan for follow-up projects.

A key project is an agent-based AI safety management service. When an abnormal situation occurs at the airport, on-site staff can verbally report the situation, and an AI agent will automatically organize the information to generate a draft report and provide guidance on response procedures tailored to the specific situation.

LG Corp. expects that once this service is fully implemented, it will enhance the airport safety management system through AI by reducing the reporting burden on on-site staff during emergencies and supporting rapid initial responses.

LG Corp. will leverage its AX implementation experience accumulated across various industries—including public sector, finance, manufacturing, and logistics—along with its capabilities in generative AI, agent-based AI, cloud, and data technologies for this project. Through this initiative, the company plans to support KoreaAirportService in improving operational efficiency and innovating the customer experience, while expanding its AX business portfolio into the airport and aviation sectors.

Bae Min, Executive Vice President and Head of the Finance and Public Sector Business Division at LG CNS, stated, “This project is not merely about establishing an IT strategy; it is about designing the direction of the AI transformation for South Korea’s airport industry.” He added, “Based on LG CNS’s AX capabilities, we will contribute to the Korea Airports Corporation’s implementation of an AI-based future airport model.”
