[Edaily Reporter Han Kwangbeom ] SamsungElectronics(005930)will begin permanent operation of “Foldable Heritage,” an exhibition space showcasing the journey of Galaxy foldable technology innovation accumulated over the past seven years, on the 10th on the 3rd floor of Samsung Gangnam.

Since unveiling the first “Galaxy Fold” in 2019, SamsungElectronics has continued to innovate in form factor, leading up to the recently launched “Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8.” This exhibition is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the evolution of SamsungElectronics’ foldable technology.

The exhibition space is divided into three sections: △ “Galaxy Fold and Flip” Story, △ Design Story, and △ Tech Story.

In the “Galaxy Fold & Flip” Story section, visitors can explore the chronology of the Galaxy foldable lineup. It showcases the evolution of hardware across each generation—from the “Galaxy Fold,” the first in-folding foldable phone, to the world’s first triple-folding “Galaxy Z Tri-Fold,” and the “Galaxy Z Fold8” with its new aspect ratio—along with advancements in core technologies such as Galaxy AI.

The “Design Story” section provides a detailed look at the creation process of the “Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8.” It covers the development process and behind-the-scenes stories, from the initial sketch phase through numerous mockup tests to the realization of the optimal aspect ratio and a highly refined design.

The “Tech Story” section provides a comprehensive look at display technology, the evolution of the hinge, and durability testing processes. Visitors can explore the “Flex Titanium” technology featured in the “Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra” and “Z Fold8” through videos and actual products, seeing how it reduces thickness while improving durability and minimizing screen creases.

In addition, the exhibition features videos of folding, water resistance, and impact tests conducted during the product development process, as well as a “teardown exhibit” that showcases the sophisticated hardware technology of the “Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Fold8.” This exhibit allows visitors to see firsthand the ultra-precise component design and space-optimization technology inside the devices.

In addition to the Samsung Gangnam location, “Foldable Heritage” will be open year-round on the first floors of the Samsung Store Hongdae and the Samsung Store Cheongdam. The Samsung Store Cheongdam will focus on the “Galaxy Fold and Flip” story section.

Meanwhile, the recently launched “Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8” achieved the highest pre-sales record for any Galaxy smartphone in South Korea, selling 1.44 million units during the domestic pre-sale period.
