[Edaily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] NHN(181710)reported its highest-ever second-quarter revenue and operating profit, driven by growth in its artificial intelligence (AI) graphics processing unit (GPU) business and strong performance in its gaming and payment divisions.
NHN announced on the 11th that its consolidated revenue for the second quarter of this year rose 25.3% year-over-year to 757.9 billion won, while operating profit surged 164.1% to 57.9 billion won. Both revenue and operating profit marked all-time highs on a quarterly basis. Revenue for the technology division reached 159.8 billion won, up 52.9% year-over-year and 27.1% quarter-over-quarter.
NHN Cloud saw its second-quarter revenue increase by 85.3% year-over-year, driven by revenue generated in the Yangpyeong region of Seoul as the supply of NVIDIA B200-based GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) began in earnest. NHN Tecorus, NHN’s Japanese technology subsidiary, also saw revenue rise by 27.0%, fueled by growth in its Amazon Web Services (AWS) resale business.
NHN Cloud is also accelerating the expansion of its AI infrastructure business. The company is discussing new long-term contracts for the remaining capacity it operates in the Yangpyeong region, which is currently in use for a government GPU deployment project. To meet growing GPU demand, the company plans to secure at least 30 MW of additional AI data center capacity by next year and expand its existing regions with the latest GPUs, such as the NVIDIA B300 or higher.
Revenue in the gaming division reached 139.6 billion won, up 21.5% year-over-year and 9.3% quarter-over-quarter. Web board game revenue rose 15% year-over-year, driven by factors such as changes in the regulatory environment. Revenue from Japanese mobile games also increased by 47%. In particular, “#Compass” saw revenue grow 105% quarter-over-quarter due to the success of its collaboration with “Chainsaw Man.”
NHN will also continue to launch new titles, focusing on the Japanese market. “Puchi Poyong of the Fantasy World,” currently under joint development by NHN’s Game Business Division and Japan’s NHN PlayArt with a target release this winter, is scheduled to be unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show this September.
Revenue from the payment division reached 394 billion won, up 27.3% year-over-year and 11.1% quarter-over-quarter. NHN KCP saw its transaction volume increase by 34% year-over-year due to the addition of major new merchants, leading to a 27.5% rise in revenue.
NHN KCP is fostering stablecoins as a new growth engine. Last July, the company held a demo day for financial institutions and technology partners, demonstrating actual payment and merchant settlement procedures using the mainnet jointly developed with global blockchain firm Avalanche and the digital wallet in the Payco app.
Revenue from other segments totaled 88 billion won, down 8.8% year-over-year but up 3.8% quarter-over-quarter. NHN Link’s revenue rose 25% year-over-year, driven by growth in performance-related revenue.
Jung Woojin, CEO of NHN, stated, “The results of the management efficiency improvements and cost controls we’ve been implementing over the past few years began to reflect in our financial performance starting in the fourth quarter of last year, and this year marks the period when the results of our core businesses will truly take off on that foundation.” He added, “This second-quarter performance marks the first quarter in which those results have been confirmed as profits, and we will use this as the starting point for our growth phase to continue this momentum into the second half of the year.”
SamsungElectronics will participate in “gamescom 2026,” the world’s largest gaming exhibition, to showcase a “full-stack gaming” experience spanning PCs, consoles, and mobile devices.
