“Doubts Persist About the KOSPI’s Rebound… but Recovery Momentum Is Showing Signs of Improvement”
[Edaily Reporter Kim Kyung-eun ] The KOSPI and KOSDAQ are trading flat and lackluster in early trading on the 26th. Although the three major U.S. stock indices all rose last night as semiconductor stocks rebounded in New York, this does not appear to be translating into clear upward momentum for the domestic stock market.

According to MP Doctor, as of 9:05 a.m. today, the KOSPI is trading at 6,771.90, up 29.16 points (0.43%) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 6,727.25, down 15.49 points (0.23%) from the previous close, and has remained in a range-bound pattern.
By investor type, retail investors are net buyers of 217 billion won, while foreign and institutional investors are net sellers of 228.6 billion won and 7.1 billion won, respectively.
With a wait-and-see sentiment growing one day ahead of NVIDIA’s earnings announcement, caution stemming from the domestic stock market’s recent sharp swings is also seen as limiting the index’s movement.
Although the New York stock market rebounded overnight, led by semiconductor stocks, this positive momentum does not appear to be spilling over into the domestic market. On the 25th (local time), the three major indices on the New York Stock Exchange all closed higher as international oil prices and Treasury yields fell. NVIDIA, set to announce its earnings after the market closes on the 26th, rose 2.19% today, rebounding for the first time in eight trading days.
In contrast, leading domestic semiconductor stocks are trading flat. SamsungElectronics(005930)is trading at 259,000 won, up 2,000 won (0.78%) from the previous close. SK hynix(000660)is trading at 1,687,000 won, up 9,000 won (0.54%).
Among other top KOSPI market-cap stocks, SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION(028260)(1.50%), Samsung Life Insurance(032830)(2.63%), and DOOSAN ENERBILITY(034020)(2.23%) are on the rise. On the other hand, SKSQUARE(402340)(-1.13%), SamsungElectroMechanics(009150)(-2.28%), HyundaiMotor(005380)(-0.36%), and LG Energy Solution(373220)(-1.86%) are trading lower.
Han Ji-young, an analyst at KIWOOM Securities, said, “We are still in a phase where doubts persist regarding the sustainability of the domestic stock market’s rebound,” but added, “It is important to note that the market’s internal resilience is improving.”
At the same time, the KOSDAQ is trading at 829.14, up 1.99 points (0.24%) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 824.77, down 2.38 points (0.29%) from the previous close, and is similarly trading within a narrow range.
By investor type, retail investors made net purchases of 18.5 billion won, while foreign and institutional investors made net sales of 11.9 billion won and 7.3 billion won, respectively.
The top two KOSDAQ stocks by market capitalization are both trading lower. Alteogen Inc.(196170)is trading at 299,000 won, down 6,500 won (2.13%) from the previous trading day. ECOPRO CO., LTD(086520)is trading at 84,300 won, down 900 won (1.06%).
In addition, most of the top market-cap stocks—including ECOPRO BM CO., LTD.(247540)(-2.58%), Rainbow Robotics(277810)(-1.43%), JUSUNG ENGINEERING Co.,Ltd.(036930)(-1.57%), and WONIK IPS Co.,Ltd.(240810)(-2.85%)—are down. PharmaResearch(214450)(2.65%), SIMMTECH Co., Ltd.(222800)(0.60%), and Peptron, Inc.(087010)(0.55%) are among those trading higher.
