[Edaily Reporter Lee So-Hyun ] SOOP(067160)is accelerating its efforts to attract gamers by enhancing the convenience and content of its esports service. The strategy involves redesigning the esports page to make it easier to find desired matches and content, while expanding user engagement by connecting users to everything from professional leagues to in-house tournaments and amateur competitions.

SOOP announced on the 1st that it had carried out a major update to its esports page on the 25th. Based on a survey conducted earlier this year among esports page users regarding the redesign, the update incorporated improvements requested by users in areas such as live streaming, content discovery, and quests and contests.

The SOOP esports page provides match schedules, live streams, match predictions, video-on-demand (VOD), and information on professional gamers and partner teams across a variety of titles. Since the platform typically covers 60 to 70 leagues and events across about 20 game titles annually, this redesign focused on improving accessibility so users can quickly find the information they want.

First, a new “Today’s Live Broadcasts” section has been added to prioritize leagues with live broadcasts currently in progress or scheduled for the day. The live broadcast area has also been expanded, and previews have been added to make it easy to check which matches are currently underway and whether drops are available.

Participation features have also been prominently placed. Quests and sweepstakes have been moved to the side menu, and the number of quests offering gems is now displayed.

On the SOOP esports page, an average of about five match predictions were held per day last year—approximately 1,760 times annually. As of August this year, 1,432 predictions have been held, and the number is projected to reach 2,000 by year-end, averaging more than six per day.

A new “Curated VOD” feature has also been introduced, allowing users to continue viewing related content after a match ends. Rather than simply providing match replays, this feature bundles videos related to a single theme. For example, when the ASL finals take place, it compiles and displays reaction videos from streamers who watched the match.

The community section has also been subdivided to allow for sub-forums and themes tailored to each game. SOOP expects the esports page to record an average of approximately 10 million page views (PV) per month this year.

Broadcasts of 26 tournaments in August

Along with enhancing service convenience, SOOP is expanding its esports content to provide a steady stream of entertainment. This involves showcasing a variety of content formats, ranging from professional esports broadcasts to in-house leagues and streamer tournaments.

During the month of August alone, the SOOP esports page broadcast a total of 26 tournaments, including League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK), the Pokémon World Championships (WCS), its in-house leagues ASL and “Doom Battle,” as well as the “Jungman Cup” and “Final Showdown” featuring streamers. With long-running leagues operating simultaneously, an average of about 5 to 10 leagues are broadcast live each day.

In-house content production continues as well. The StarCraft esports league ASL operates on a seasonal basis, with its 22nd season currently underway. Season openers and qualifiers are held prior to the main tournament.

“Battle of the Doomed” is SOOP’s flagship original esports content, which has attracted approximately 10,000 streamers over the past decade and surpassed 400 million cumulative viewers. With a diverse range of content—from professional leagues to in-house leagues and streamer tournaments—running simultaneously, users can choose content based on the game title and the nature of the tournament.

From Spectator Esports to Participatory Tournaments

SOOP is also expanding its reach into the amateur esports sector, where general gamers can participate directly in matches.

This year, regional amateur tournaments such as the “2026 GES Gwangju National Amateur Esports Tournament” and the “GES 2026 Seoul Cup” are being held. SOOP also hosts various forms of amateur esports content, including tournaments featuring female amateur players from France and South Korea.

The organization has also established a system that enables users to create and manage their own tournaments. Through “GGGL,” a comprehensive esports tournament platform, SOOP provides the necessary features for creating tournaments, recruiting participants, managing match schedules, and running competitions.

So far this year, a total of 101 tournaments have been held through GGGL, with a cumulative total of 11,589 participants. Local governments, schools, and clubs can use GGGL to run tournaments without having to build their own separate tournament management systems. Users can find tournaments that suit them and participate directly.

SOOP plans to expand the opportunities for users to watch and participate in matches by revamping its esports page, expanding content, and establishing a foundation for amateur tournament operations.
