[Edaily Reporter Kim Min-jung ] While actress Ha Young voluntarily withdrew from the Netflix series “Trauma Center” due to her great-grandfather’s past pro-Japanese activities, the fact that Netflix Japan recently released a special video compilation of Ha Young’s works is belatedly drawing attention.

On the 28th of last month, Netflix Japan released a roughly 4-minute video titled “Strong and Flexible Characters Played by Ha Young, Living Life on Their Own Terms” on its official YouTube channel.

The video features Ha Young in Netflix productions such as “Such a Shitty Love,” “The Odd Lawyer Woo Young-woo,” “Monthly Boyfriend,” and “Proper Education.” The thumbnail also displays Ha Young’s faces from each of these works side by side.

Netflix Japan highlighted the independent characters portrayed by Ha Young, stating, “Actress Ha Young impresses with her confident demeanor,” and introduced the strength and flexibility of characters who live their lives on their own terms.

In response, some netizens questioned the timing of the video’s release. Recently, Ha Young has been at the center of controversy after it was revealed that her great-grandfather was Ahn Sang-ho, who had a history of pro-Japanese activities.

Ha Young’s representatives initially stated that the allegations regarding her great-grandfather’s pro-Japanese activities were “groundless,” but later corrected their position after confirming the existence of records showing that Ahn Sang-ho’s name appeared on the list of council members for the Daejeong Friendship Society—a pro-Japanese organization—in 1916.

Ahn Sang-ho is also known to have been one of the medical staff who treated Lee Wan-yong, who sustained serious injuries from an attack by independence activist Dr. Lee Jae-myung.

The fallout from the controversy extended to Ha Young’s career. A scheduled promotional interview for *Such a Shitty Love* was canceled, and the advertising industry began distancing itself from her. Public criticism also mounted, calling for her to withdraw from her upcoming project.

Ultimately, Ha Young decided to withdraw from Season 2 of *Trauma Center*, which is set to begin filming this October.

Netflix stated on the 1st, “Ha Young has conveyed her intention to withdraw,” adding, “Out of respect for the actress’s position, we have decided that Ha Young will not appear in the sequel to ‘Trauma Center.’”

Amid this situation, news has emerged that Netflix Japan has released a video highlighting Ha Young’s past projects and characters, sparking continued interest in the timing of the video’s release.
