[Edaily Reporter Park Jung-Soo ] SNTEnergy Co.,Ltd.(100840)announced on the 2nd that it has signed a contract with Korea Southern Power to supply a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) for the Hadong LNG combined-cycle power plant, valued at approximately 128.2 billion won. This project involves Korea Southern Power replacing the existing aging coal-fired Hadong Power Plant Units 2 and 3, with a combined capacity of 1,000 MW (megawatts), with a high-efficiency LNG combined-cycle power plant. SNTEnergy Co.,Ltd. will carry out the project as part of a joint venture with DOOSAN ENERBILITY under a shared responsibility arrangement and will be responsible for supplying the HRSG, a core component of the LNG combined-cycle power plant. The contract period runs from September 2026 to December 2029, and the contract value represents 21.14% of SNTEnergy Co.,Ltd.’s 2025 consolidated revenue (approximately 606 billion won). In South Korea, projects to convert aging coal-fired power plants to LNG combined-cycle power generation and to modernize power generation facilities are being continuously pursued, primarily by state-owned and private power generation companies. As the conversion of aging coal-fired power plants to LNG is being carried out sequentially in accordance with the government’s power supply and demand plan, opportunities to secure HRSG-related orders are expected to continue in the future. An SNTEnergy Co.,Ltd. official stated, “This contract win is a testament to the renewed recognition of SNTEnergy Co.,Ltd.’s competitiveness in HRSG design and manufacturing for large-scale domestic LNG combined-cycle power projects,” adding, “We will actively expand our efforts to secure contracts for LNG combined-cycle power and power plant modernization projects to be undertaken both domestically and internationally in the future.”
