[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyun-ah ] SamsungElectronics(005930)is recruiting classes to participate in the second semester of the “Galaxy AI Class” program for upper-grade elementary school students and middle school students nationwide.

Applications can be submitted starting on the 14th by teachers on behalf of their classes via Samsung.com. After applications are submitted, SamsungElectronics will consult with teachers regarding class schedules and preferred subjects to finalize the list of participating classes.

The “Galaxy AI Class” is an educational program in which professional and assistant instructors visit school classrooms to help students experience AI using Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The program is designed not only to introduce AI features but also to teach students the basic concepts and ethics of AI, as well as how to apply it in various fields of interest.

The program will also be revamped for the second semester of this year. A new first lesson, “Basic AI Literacy,” has been introduced to teach the fundamental concepts of AI, ethics, and proper usage through both theory and hands-on practice. The focus is on helping students learn how to use AI responsibly, rather than merely as a convenient tool.

In the second class, students participate in hands-on learning where they explore how to apply AI to their areas of interest. They can choose one of five subjects: career exploration, drawing, the environment, history, or travel.

For example, in the career course, students use AI to identify their strengths and interests and create a vision board. In the environmental course, they explore climate and environmental issues and develop concrete ideas for a sustainable future.

The program is also expanding in scale. From 2025 through the first semester of this year, approximately 175,000 students have completed the program, with over 1,000 schools participating. SamsungElectronics plans to train an additional 70,000 students in the second semester of this year, bringing the cumulative number of participating students over the two-year period to more than 250,000.

Student and teacher satisfaction levels were also high. According to SamsungElectronics, a satisfaction survey conducted in the first semester of 2026 showed a student satisfaction rate of 94.5% and a teacher satisfaction rate of 99.8%.

Kim Seo-yoon, a fourth-grade student at Hongje Elementary School in Seoul, said, “I learned that AI is not just a technology that answers questions, but one that helps me generate results and make judgments based on my own thoughts,” adding, “I’d like to try using AI to solve problems like the climate crisis in the future.”

Choi Ji-hyun, a teacher at Hanyang University College of Education Affiliated Middle School, said, “It’s important for students to learn both the proper use of AI and its ethical implications.” She added, “The process of moving from understanding the content to actually applying it was very helpful from a learning perspective.”

SamsungElectronics has been expanding the scale of participation since piloting the program in 2024 with approximately 5,000 students ranging from kindergarteners to high schoolers. The official program was structured around subjects that received a high level of student engagement during the pilot phase, and it currently integrates AI with various fields such as career development, creativity, and the environment.

Lim Seong-taek, Executive Vice President of SamsungElectronics Korea, said, “‘Galaxy AI Class’ is a program designed to provide students with an opportunity to experience AI in a way that is easy and enjoyable, rather than difficult.” He added, “We will continue to develop the program with a focus on creative hands-on activities, including courses aimed at cultivating AI literacy.”
