[E-Daily Starin YUN GI BACK Reporter] The horror drama “M,” which took the nation by storm in 1994, is returning with a new cast after more than 30 years. The TVING Original “M: Reboot,” starring Jung Chae-yeon and Jung Geon-ju, will premiere next year. Screenshot from the drama “M.” “M: Reboot” is a horror thriller in which Detective Ji-seok, who is chasing an unidentified green light, becomes entangled in bizarre events alongside “M,” a mysterious persona that awakens within the body of Mari, a promising ballerina. It reinterprets the 1994 MBC series “M”—which garnered attention for its unconventional subject matter and atmosphere—with a modern sensibility. The series is directed by Lim Dae-woong, who has consistently delivered horror-thriller works such as the drama *It’s Nighttime* and the film *Scary Story*. The screenplay is written by Hong Eun-mi and Lee Jeong-eun, who previously worked on the films *Hidden Face* and *Missing: The Woman Who Vanished*. In this project, Jeong Chae-yeon takes on the challenge of playing three roles simultaneously for the first time. She portrays Marie, a promising ballet dancer; Jenny, a genius surgeon from the U.S.; and the mysterious persona “M.” The story truly begins when “M” awakens within Marie, who has been plagued by nightmares ahead of an audition for a world-renowned ballet school. While chasing a green light that appears in every inexplicable case, Ji Seok eventually confronts memories from 10 years ago. This marks Jeong Geon-ju’s first time taking on the role of a detective. Attention is focused on how the production will revive the iconic horror imagery of the 1994 film *M*, as well as what new atmosphere will be created by Jung Chae-yeon’s portrayal of three roles and Jung Geon-ju’s first transformation into a detective.
