[Edaily Reporter KYUNG GYEYOUNG ] Shinsegae Co.,Ltd has appointed Lee Seok-gu, the current CEO of Shinsegae DF, as the new head of its department store division. Through this appointment, the Shinsegae Department Store Division plans to strengthen the company’s overall audit functions, establish a systematic management framework, and enhance management soundness.

Shinsegae Co.,Ltd announced this personnel decision on the 6th. Born in 1949, the newly appointed division head graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in Business Administration and joined SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION in 1975. Mr. Lee served as Senior Managing Director of the Support Headquarters for the Shinsegae Co.,Ltd. Department Store Division in 1999 and Executive Vice President of the Support Headquarters for the E-MART Co.,Ltd. Division in 2001. He subsequently served as CEO of Chosun Hotel in 2002 and CEO of Starbucks Coffee Korea in 2007.

Subsequently, in 2020, he became President and CEO of the JAJU Business Division at SHINSEGAE INTERNATIONAL. He served as Chair of the Shinsegae New Growth Promotion Committee in 2022 and as President and CEO of Shinsegae Live Shopping in 2023. Since September of last year, he has served as President and CEO of Shinsegae Co.,Ltd. The newly appointed division head will also concurrently serve as CEO of Shinsegae Co.,Ltd. The previous division head, Vice President Kim Seon-ho, will take charge of the Support Headquarters.

A Shinsegae Co.,Ltd official stated, “Through this personnel reshuffle, we will further strengthen the company’s management structure and enhance functional expertise to support sustainable growth,” adding, “We will continue to solidify the trust of the market and our customers.”

Previously, in its 2027 regular executive reshuffle announced on the 23rd of last month, Shinsegae Co.,Ltd promoted executives while retaining key management personnel in the department store division.

Kim Nak-hyun, manager of the Centum City branch of Shinsegae Co.,Ltd., was promoted to vice president, while Lee Seong-hwan, head of sales strategy, and Lee Seung-woo, head of development, were each promoted to executive vice president. Kim Dae-ho, head of the Support Division at Shinsegae Central, and Kang Seong-jun, head of the Sales Division at Shinsegae Live Shopping, were also promoted to executive vice president. New executives were also appointed at Shinsegae DF and Shinsegae Simon.
