[Edaily Starin YUN GI BACK Reporter] Actor Kim Soo-hyun attended an official event in Korea for the first time in about one year and six months since he suspended his activities amid allegations regarding his private life. Kim Soo-hyun (Photo: Screenshot from the “2026 The Fact Music Awards” broadcast) On the 19th, Kim Soo-hyun took the stage as the presenter of the “TMA Popularity Award” at the “2026 The Fact Music Awards” (TMA), held at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium in Yeonje-gu, Busan. Appearing in a black suit, Kim Soo-hyun greeted the audience, saying, “Although I’m standing here today as a presenter, I, too, am just one person who loves K-pop.” He continued, “K-pop, which has grown by capturing our emotions and stories, has become a culture that fans around the world enjoy, relate to, and connect with, transcending borders and languages,” adding, “This means the power of our artists and music has grown even greater.” Appearing at an official domestic event for the first time in about a year and a half, Kim Soo-hyun looked somewhat gaunter than before. Smiling throughout the ceremony, he personally presented the trophy to Lim Young-woong, who received the “TMA Popularity Award.” Kim Soo-hyun effectively suspended his activities after allegations surfaced last March that he had been in a relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron while she was still a minor. While acknowledging that he had been in a relationship with her, Kim Soo-hyun’s representatives refuted the timing of the relationship, asserting that it began after she had become an adult. Subsequently, he filed a lawsuit against Kim Se-ui, the head of the YouTube channel “Garo-Sero Research Institute”—which had raised the allegations—and the deceased’s family members on charges including defamation. The related investigation has also recently come to a close. Last July, the police decided not to refer the case—in which the deceased’s family had filed a complaint against Kim Soo-hyun on charges including violation of the Child Welfare Act—to the prosecution due to insufficient evidence and forwarded the case files to the prosecution. As the prosecution did not request any supplementary or re-investigation, the related investigative procedures have effectively concluded. Kim Se-ui, the CEO who had raised allegations against Kim Soo-hyun, was indicted and taken into custody on charges including defamation by spreading false information. Prior to his return to official events in Korea, Kim Soo-hyun resumed his activities overseas. Following a schedule in the Philippines last July, he appeared last month as a special guest on a live special broadcast marking the 37th anniversary of the founding of the Indonesian private broadcaster RCTI. During the broadcast, he even sang the OST from his representative work, “Dream High,” himself.
