[Edaily Reporter Lee So-Hyun ] SOCAR(403550)has expanded its service—which allows users to request car seat installation along with vehicle reservations—to the entire Seoul metropolitan area. In Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon, users can now request car seat installation at the time of vehicle reservation, eliminating the need to carry car seats themselves or search for separate rental companies.

SOCAR announced on the 29th that it has expanded its service coverage to allow users to rent vehicles equipped with car seats throughout the Seoul metropolitan area, including all of Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon.

SOCAR first introduced the car seat installation reservation feature in Jeju, Daegu, and Busan this past June. Previously, car seats and strollers could only be rented at the Jeju SOCAR Terminal, but the company has since expanded its service area by updating the SOCAR app to allow users to reserve a vehicle and request a car seat in a single step.

The service operates 24 hours a day for Black Label vehicles in the Seoul Metropolitan Area

The car seat installation service in the Seoul Metropolitan Area is available 24 hours a day, just like in Daegu and Busan.

When booking a vehicle on the SOCAR app, simply select “Custom Options,” choose the type and quantity of car seats, and specify the installation location, then pay along with the vehicle rental fee.

Afterward, a staff member will pre-install the car seats in the vehicle and handle everything from delivery to pickup after the vehicle is returned. This eliminates the need for users to transport or install the car seats themselves.

However, in the Seoul Metropolitan Area, this service is available only when renting vehicles from “Black Label,” the premium car-sharing service. Eligible vehicles include the Tesla Model Y, The New Carnival, and the Ioniq 9.

In Jeju, as an exception, the car seat installation service is also available for standard vehicles, but the service hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Up to 4 car seats can be installed in the Carnival

A maximum of two car seats can be rented per vehicle. Multi-passenger vehicles, such as the Carnival, can accommodate up to four car seats.

Car seats are available for various age and weight ranges, suitable for children from newborns to elementary school students. In Jeju and Busan, portable strollers are also available for rent.

You can add a car seat even after completing your vehicle reservation. In Jeju, you can purchase a car seat without canceling your existing reservation up to 2 hours before departure; in other regions, you can do so up to 8 hours before departure.

Andong-hwa, Head of SOCAR’s Car-Sharing Division, said, “We’ve improved the service so that parents traveling with children can take care of the car seat arrangements—which used to be a burden—at the same time they book a vehicle.” He added, “To maintain the cleanliness of the car seats and vehicles, we’ve limited the service to Black Label vehicles in the Seoul metropolitan area, Daegu, Busan, and other inland regions, but we plan to gradually expand the service scope and operating areas in the future.”
