Netflix announced on the 7th that Han So-hee, Kang Yu-seok, Sung Jun, Lee Sung-min, and Jung Ji-hoon will star in “Only I Level Up.”
“Only I Level Up” is a Netflix series that tells the story of Seong Jin-woo, an “E-rank Hunter”—considered the weakest among the “Hunters” who protect the real world from monsters beyond the Gate—who awakens in the face of death and levels up to become the “Strongest Hunter” who will save the world. Originally a web novel, the story has expanded into a webtoon, an animated series, and a video game, and is now being adapted into a live-action Netflix series.
Han So-hee will play “Cha Hae-in,” Korea’s ninth S-rank hunter and the only female S-rank hunter among those defending the real world from monsters, whose trademark weapon is a longsword. Her proven action skills from *My Name* and *Gyeongseong Creature* heighten anticipation for her portrayal of “Cha Hae-in.”
“Yoo Jin-ho,” the second son of the Yoo Jin Group who joins “Seong Jin-woo” on a dungeon quest and subsequently looks up to and assists him like an older brother, will be played by Kang Yu-seok. Kang previously delivered memorable performances, showcasing a warm and down-to-earth charm in the Netflix series *I Was Completely Duped* and the drama *One Day, I’ll Be a Wise Resident*. “Woo Jin-cheol,” the head of the Hunter Association’s Surveillance Division and an A-rank hunter who monitors the hunters’ activities and is the first to suspect whether “Seong Jin-woo” has been reawakened, will be played by Seong Jun.

Lee Sung-min and Jung Ji-hoon are also listed as special guests. Lee Sung-min plays “Go Geon-hee,” the president of the Hunters’ Association—a retired top-tier hunter who oversees all hunters in South Korea, including the Hunters’ Guild, and has the authority to mobilize hunters in the event of an emergency. Having portrayed a wide range of characters—from the helpless, unemployed head of a household in the film *I Can’t Help It* to the principled general in *Spring in Seoul*—Lee Sung-min previously demonstrated the true meaning of adulthood as “Choi Kang-seok,” the Minister of Education and a steadfast pillar of the Office for the Protection of Teachers’ Rights in the Netflix series *True Education*. Viewers are eagerly anticipating the presence he will bring to this role. “Baek Yun-ho,” the leader of the White Tiger Guild—ranked second among the five major hunter guilds—is an S-class hunter capable of transforming into a demon beast. He is portrayed by Jung Ji-hoon, who left a strong impression with his transformation into a ruthless villain and relentless action in Season 2 of the Netflix series “The Hunters,” and he firmly anchors this intriguing ensemble cast.
Director Han Dong-wook joins as co-director. Having made his debut with the film *When a Man Loves*, Director Han Dong-wook won the Best Director Award in the TV category at the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards for the series *The Worst of the Worst*, in which he depicted the dark and gritty world of noir through intense action and an impressive ensemble of diverse characters. Together with the production company Sani Pictures, Kakao Entertainment, to present an even higher-quality version of *I’m the Only One Leveling Up* with more powerful action and a solid storyline.
Byeon Woo-seok was previously cast in *Only I Level Up*. He will star as the protagonist, Seong Jin-woo. Among the hunters who protect the real world from monsters, “Seong Jin-woo” is an “E-rank hunter”—the weakest of the weak—who is routinely mocked by his fellow hunters. Facing a life-threatening crisis, he awakens to his true potential and, through his overwhelming ability to level up, quickly emerges as humanity’s last hope. With Byun Woo-seok having gained global popularity through *20th Century Girl* and *Run Away with Seonjae*, all eyes are on what kind of performance he will deliver in *Only I Level Up*.
