[Edaily Reporter Son Eui-Yeon ] The fall music festival “Grand Mint Festival” (GMF) has decided to cancel some of the outdoor performances on the second day of the event due to severe weather, including heavy rain, and to issue full refunds for tickets. (Photo: Grand Mint Festival social media) The organizer, Mint Paper, announced via its official social media on the 18th, “As the severe weather continues, it is practically impossible to fully carry out the planned performances,” adding, “We plan to issue full refunds for Day 2 tickets.” They continued, “The 88 Lawn Stage, an outdoor venue, cannot proceed as scheduled due to damage to some production equipment, so we are canceling all remaining events there,” and noted, “We are monitoring the weather conditions at the 88 Lake Waterside Stage and will provide a separate update as soon as a decision is made on whether to resume performances.”
However, they added that indoor performances at the KSPO Dome will proceed as scheduled, though admission may be restricted if large crowds gather.
The GMF was scheduled to take place on the 17th and 18th in the Olympic Park area of Songpa-gu, Seoul. For the second day’s performances, Sunwoo Jung-ah, Lee Seok-won, and Shin Ji-hoon were scheduled to perform on the 88 Lake Waterside Stage; Yoon Ha, CNBLUE, Roy Kim, and Jung Seung-hwan on the 88 Lawn Stage; and Sipran (10cm x Soran), Shot Apple, and N.Flying at the KSPO Dome.
In anticipation of the heavy rain forecast, the organizers distributed raincoats to the audience and set up tents, but as the downpour continued, the event was ultimately disrupted. Some performers have already been notified of the cancellation.
However, at the request of some artists—including Shin Ji-hoon, Kkachisan, Sunwoo Jung-ah, and Lee Seok-won—their performances will proceed as scheduled.
The organizers stated, “Since this is the artists’ decision to meet as many audience members as possible, we ask for your continued support,” and urged attendees to “check the on-site situation and any additional announcements.”
