[Edaily Reporter Choi Hee-jae ] The movie "The Final Interview" topped the box office, beating out "Heart of the Beast," starring Brad Pitt, and the Japanese animated film "Chiikawa: The Secret of the Mermaid Island."

According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated computer network on the 5th, “The Final Interview” drew 26,700 viewers on its opening day, the 4th, to claim the No. 1 spot at the box office. Its cumulative audience stands at 42,574.

“Final Interview” tells the story of six job applicants gathered at a final interview venue who discover mysterious envelopes containing revelations about each other, leading them to suspect one another and plunge into confusion. Rising stars Jo Yi-hyun, Kim Jae-won, Shin Seung-ho, Kang Yu-seok, Kwak Dong-yeon, and Bae Kang-hee star as the six finalists.

“The Final Interview” topped the box office, beating out “Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie” and “Heart of the Beast,” which opened on the same day, as well as the long-running hit “Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island.”

“Heart of Beast” took second place, drawing 17,230 viewers that day. Its cumulative audience stands at 271,042. “Chikakawa: The Secret of the Mermaid Island” ranked third with 13,962 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 2,627,527.

On the same day, “Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie” drew 13,393 viewers to rank fourth, while “The Secret Behind the College Entrance Exam” drew 5,351 viewers to rank fifth.
