[Edaily Reporter kyoungeun kim ] On the morning of the 30th, both the KOSPI and KOSDAQ are rising in tandem, buoyed by the overnight rally in the New York stock market.

According to MP Doctor, as of 9:14 a.m., the KOSPI is trading at 8,429.99, up 35.34 points (0.42%) from the previous trading day.

Earlier on the 29th (local time), the New York stock market saw its upward momentum limited in early trading due to a simultaneous decline in semiconductor stocks such as Micron and SanDisk. However, semiconductor stocks subsequently staged a sharp intraday rebound, leading to a close higher as rotation trading spread to other big tech companies including Alphabet (+4.82%), Tesla (+8.46%), Meta (+2.24%), and NVIDIA (+1.27%) as investors rotated into other big tech stocks, leading the market to close higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.59%, the S&P 500 index rose 1.18%, and the Nasdaq Composite rose 2.07%. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index jumped 3.83%. President Trump’s announcement that U.S.-Iran peace talks would resume that day in Doha, Qatar, also boosted investor sentiment.

Han Ji-young, an analyst at KIWOOM Securities, said, “As this is the last trading day of June, volatility in the supply and demand of semiconductor stocks could increase toward the end of the session due to the impact of quarter- and half-year-end rebalancing, which may limit the market’s upside.”

In the stock market, institutional investors are supporting the index with net purchases of 4625억원. Retail investors are also net buyers, with purchases totaling 2686억원. In contrast, foreign investors are selling 7403억원 worth of shares. Program trading, combining arbitrage and non-arbitrage trades, shows a net sell position of 4981억원.

Top-market-cap stocks are showing mixed performance. SamsungElectroMechanics(009150)(+3.93%), SamsungElectronics(005930)(+2.48%), SamsungElectronics(1P)(005935)(+0.71%), and SK hynix(000660)(+0.19%) are rising. On the other hand, LG Energy Solution(373220)(-6.99%), SKSQUARE(402340)(-1.71%), Samsung Life Insurance(032830)(-2.69%), SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION(028260)(-1.06%), and SAMSUNG BIOLOGICS(207940)(-1.04%) are down. HyundaiMotor(005380)is unchanged.

At this time, the KOSDAQ is also trading at 931.00, up 10.43 points (1.13%). Retail investors and institutions are buying 110.9 billion won and 8.5 billion won worth of shares, respectively, while foreign investors are net sellers of 114.9 billion won.

Top-cap stocks on the KOSDAQ market are showing mixed trends. EO Technics Co., Ltd.(039030)(+13.03%), WONIK IPS Co.,Ltd.(240810)(+12.77%), Rainbow Robotics(277810)(+1.94%), #HBL (+0.59%), and LEENO Industrial Inc(058470)(+1.52%) are rising. On the other hand, Alteogen Inc.(196170)(-1.07%), ECOPRO CO., LTD(086520)(-4.83%), and ECOPRO BM CO., LTD.(247540)(-3.24%) are falling.

By sector, leisure equipment and products are surging by around 6%, while department stores and general retail, electronic equipment and devices, and gaming and entertainment are rising by 2–4%. Conversely, electrical appliances are falling by around 4%, and steel, non-ferrous metals, and display panels are also declining by 2–3%.
