KTCorporation(030200)KTCorporation announced on the 12th that its “KT AI Station” won the Champion Award in the Access to Information and Knowledge category at the “World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prize 2026” awards ceremony held in Geneva, Switzerland, on the 10th (local time).

The WSIS Prize is the most prestigious award in the information and communications technology (ICT) field, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN). Outstanding projects are selected through online voting and expert reviews from among 1,595 entries submitted worldwide. At this year’s ceremony, KTCorporation was the only South Korean company or institution to be named among the winners.

The award-winning “KT AI Station” is a mobile AI education platform designed to bridge the digital divide and strengthen the AI capabilities of future generations. Since 2025, KTCorporation has been visiting schools and communities in remote areas—such as islands and mountainous regions—where AI education infrastructure is lacking, to provide youth with hands-on AI training and education on AI ethics. The international community highly commended these efforts to bridge the AI education gap.

The educational outcomes are also tangible. A total of 1,797 young people participated in this program, which KTCorporation operated last year at 19 schools across 21 regions nationwide. Satisfaction with the program reached 4.77 out of 5 among students and 4.94 out of 5 among teachers, while improvements in digital ethics awareness also scored 4.84, demonstrating the program’s tangible educational impact.

With this award, KTCorporation has set a milestone by becoming the first private company in Korea to win the WSIS Prize Champion Award twice. Previously, in 2024, KTCorporation won the Champion Award in the “Ethical Dimensions of the Information Society” category for its “KT Digital Citizen” project.

Lee Jeong-woo, Executive Vice President in charge of ESG at KTCorporation, stated, “This award is a result of the international community recognizing KTCorporation’s efforts to ensure that everyone can enjoy the benefits of AI technology,” adding, “We will continue to expand AI education opportunities through AI Station so that young people can properly understand and safely utilize AI.”
