[Edaily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] LG Energy Solution is partnering with global renewable energy company Enerix to expand its presence in the European and North American energy storage system (ESS) markets. LG Energy Solution announced on the 27th that it signed a strategic business agreement with EnergiX at its Park One headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, to collaborate on ESS projects in Europe and North America. This agreement takes the form of a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MOU).

The two companies plan to collaborate with the goal of supplying a total of 2 GWh of ESS within the next 24 months—approximately 1.5 GWh in Europe and 0.5 GWh in North America. They are also discussing plans to expand the total supply volume to 4.5 GWh through their European and U.S. subsidiaries.

Enerix is a global independent power producer (IPP) specializing in renewable energy and headquartered in Israel. It handles everything from development to operation of renewable energy projects—including solar, wind, and ESS—primarily in Europe, North America, and Israel. The company is currently expanding its business with the goal of building a global portfolio of over 8 GW.

The two companies plan to begin full-scale collaboration starting with the “Jonava Project,” which Enerix is currently pursuing in Lithuania. This is a hybrid renewable energy project combining solar and wind power with an ESS of approximately 320 MWh; it is currently in the development stage and aims to begin commercial operation in 2027.

Previously, the two companies established a cooperative relationship in 2024 through Enerix’s “Nowe Czarnowo” ESS project in Poland. With this memorandum of understanding, they are expanding the scope of their collaboration from individual projects to mid- to long-term cooperation spanning Europe and North America.

LG Energy Solution has recently been expanding its business in North America, focusing on ESS projects for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, power grids, and renewable energy integration. Through this agreement, the company plans to secure opportunities to supply large-scale projects in Europe as well and broaden its global customer base.

Asa Levinger, CEO of Enerix, said, “We will seek opportunities to deploy high-quality energy storage solutions across Enerix’s projects and accelerate the expansion of renewable energy in key markets.”

Kang Chang-beom, Executive Vice President and Head of the ESS Battery Business Division at LG Energy Solution, stated, “Based on our differentiated technological capabilities and local production capacity, we will expand ESS business opportunities in Europe and North America and strengthen our global customer base.”
