LG Display announced on the 12th that it will host an admissions information session in collaboration with Yonsei University on the 24th at the ISC within the LG Science Park in Magok, Seoul, for high school students and their parents interested in applying to Yonsei University’s Department of Display Convergence Engineering. This event was organized to enhance understanding of the company and the display industry and to encourage applications from outstanding talent.

The session will proceed in the following order: an introduction to the department and LG Display, an overview of the admissions process, and a Q&A session with current students. Those wishing to attend can register in advance online. Detailed information about the session is available on the Yonsei University Department of Display Convergence Engineering website.

The contract program operated by LG Display and Yonsei University is an industry-academia collaboration initiative in which the university and the company work together to cultivate professionals who can be immediately deployed in the industry. It was established to respond to the rapidly changing global display market and to systematically develop professionals equipped with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

LG Display and Yonsei University jointly design the curriculum and provide current students with various field internship opportunities. They offer scholarships and tuition assistance to students and guarantee employment at LG Display upon graduation. This establishes a comprehensive talent development system that spans from admission through education and hands-on experience to employment.

Over the past four years, LG Display has selected a total of 120 students through this contract program. Yonsei University’s Department of Display Convergence Engineering plans to begin early admissions for the 2027 academic year starting on the 7th of next month.

In the display industry, competition among global companies to secure leadership in next-generation technologies—centered on organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs)—is intensifying. Consequently, demand for interdisciplinary talent with broad knowledge across various engineering fields is rapidly increasing.

LG Display plans to establish a one-stop talent development system—extending from admission to hiring—through Yonsei University’s Department of Display Convergence Engineering, and to proactively secure the specialized personnel needed in the field to strengthen its competitiveness in display technology.

An LG Display official stated, “As competition among global companies in the display market intensifies, the only way for South Korea to maintain its technological leadership is through securing talent.” The official added, “We will present a roadmap that enables students to grow into key talent capable of leading K-Display’s technological leadership in the global market—going beyond simply earning a degree—and create a springboard for us to leap forward together as a technology-centric company.”
