Kbank announced on the 12th that it is launching various promotions, including fee waivers, for customers using its international money transfer service. This event was organized to reduce the financial burden on new customers during a period when demand for international money transfers increases, such as at the start of the new semester for international students. First, customers who enter the promotional code “FREEPASS10” during the international money transfer application process will receive up to 10 fee-free transfers through December 31. Depending on the transfer method, customers can save up to 56,000 won in fees over 10 transactions. To receive this benefit, simply enter the code each time you make a transfer. A “Win 100,000 Won” event is also being held. Among new customers who complete cumulative international money transfers totaling at least $10,000 by December 31, the event period, 10 winners will be selected via a random drawing to receive 100,000 won each. The prize money is scheduled to be paid out by January 15. Customers wishing to participate in the event can simply click the “Try for 100,000 Won” button on the promotion page. The total amount of completed transfers will be converted to U.S. dollars for calculation. You can check your cumulative transfer amount via “View My Transfer History.” A “Spread the Word” event is also being held for all Kbank customers who do not use the international money transfer service. Until the end of this month, customers can share the link to the “International Money Transfer Event” page within the Kbank app with friends and acquaintances; if those contacts visit the event page via the link, the customer will receive “CIAAT” as a reward. The top 100 customers who collect the most CIAAT during the event period will each receive a 20,000 won benefit. Kbank’s international money transfer service operates through two methods: transfers to overseas accounts (Basic·SWIFT) and MoneyGram. International account transfers send money directly to the recipient’s overseas account and are currently available to 19 countries. Transfers take 1 to 4 business days depending on the country, and the fee is 3,500 won. No separate telegraphic transfer fee is charged, but for SWIFT transfers, intermediary and receiving fees may be charged to the recipient. MoneyGram allows transfers to 70 countries worldwide, and funds can be sent using only the recipient’s name, even if they do not have a local bank account. Transfer times range from as little as 10 minutes to 1–2 business days, depending on the local pickup method, and the transfer fee is $4. A Kbank representative stated, “We organized this event so that customers using Kbank’s new international money transfer service for the first time can enjoy the service more conveniently and affordably,” adding, “We will continue to introduce various benefits to enhance our customers’ financial convenience.”
