[Jincheon (North Chungcheong Province)=E-Daily Reporter Yun Junghoon ]SKTelecom(017670)announced on the 26th that it held a send-off ceremony for “Team SKT” at the Jincheon National Training Center in North Chungcheong Province ahead of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

This send-off ceremony was organized ahead of the Asian Games to wish SKT-sponsored athletes success. It marks the third such event hosted by SKT—which has continued its sports support initiatives encompassing both national team members and promising young athletes—following the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and the 2024 Paris Olympics.

A total of eight athletes attended the send-off ceremony—Oh Sang-wook, Do Kyung-dong, Song Se-ra, Jeon Ha-young (all fencing), Park Hye-jeong (weightlifting), Hwang Seon-woo (swimming), Namadi Joel Jin (track and field), and Noh Hyun-seung (sport climbing)—where they expressed their determination for the Asian Games and promised to repay the public’s enthusiastic support with their best performances.

During the send-off ceremony, the “National Cheering Taegeukgi”—a flag densely covered with messages of support collected by SKT through an online campaign—was unveiled. Kwon Young-sang, Head of the SKT Comm Support Office, presented this flag to Kim Taek-soo, Director of the Jincheon National Training Center, expressing hopes for victory not only for “Team SKT” but for the entire “Team Korea” delegation.

“Team SKT Fan Creators,” who are heading to Nagoya to cheer on the athletes, also attended the send-off ceremony. They plan to watch the athletes’ matches in person and capture the exciting moments in cheering videos.

SKT’s proprietary fencing AI performance analysis system, “SKT-FAN (Fencing AI Nexus),” was introduced during the training process for these Asian Games. Using AI-based computer vision technology, this system automatically edits highlight videos of points scored and conceded immediately after a match and provides a detailed analysis of an opponent’s strengths and weaknesses, including their tactics and attack patterns.

The goal is to reduce the repetitive video analysis work of performance analysts by up to 90%. Furthermore, the coaching staff and athletes are expected to refine their training based on the analysis results and quickly adjust strategies during actual matches to enhance their performance.

Oh Wan-geun, Secretary General of the Korea Fencing Association, stated, “Ahead of the Asian Games, the athletes and coaching staff who tested the AI performance analysis system developed by SKT expressed high satisfaction,” adding, “We hope to actively utilize it during the preparation process as well, leading to excellent results.”

SKT’s support does not end with the send-off ceremony. SKT, which has served as the title sponsor of the Korea Fencing Association for 24 years, will dispatch additional medical trainers and performance analysts to help manage the athletes’ physical condition and improve their performance. Furthermore, the company plans to accompany Team SKT on their journey until the very end through various original content pieces expressing its support.
