[E-Daily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] Ryu Jae-cheol, CEO of LGELECTRONICS, met with approximately 100 R&D professionals in San Francisco, USA, to share the company’s vision for future growth businesses, including robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), data center cooling solutions, and mobility.

LGELECTRONICS announced on the 30th that it held the “North America Tech Conference,” an event inviting international talent, in San Francisco, U.S., on the 29th (local time). This recruitment-focused event introduced LGELECTRONICS’ future business initiatives and technological competitiveness to local R&D professionals and PhD-level experts.

The event was attended by approximately 100 participants, including PhDs and researchers from major U.S. universities and research institutions—such as Stanford University, Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley)—as well as experienced R&D professionals working at local big tech companies and startups.

Representing LGELECTRONICS were CEO Ryu and key business and technology leaders, including Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Kim Byung-hoon, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHO) Song Sang-ho, Head of the HS Platform Business Center Jeong Ki-hyun, Head of the ES Research Institute Oh Se-gi, Head of the VS Research Institute Lee Sang-yong, Head of the AI Research Institute Kim Young-joon, Head of the SW Center Kim Dong-wook, and Head of the Robotics Business Center Song Si-yong.

CEO Ryu outlined his career path, noting that he majored in mechanical engineering, joined the company as an engineer, and rose to the position of CEO after serving as a business unit head and head of a business division. He emphasized the importance of securing R&D talent, stating, “LGELECTRONICS is a company where talented individuals with technical expertise can grow into key leaders who will drive the company’s future.”

He then shared the company’s strategy to accelerate future growth by focusing on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), mobility, and physical AI—rather than resting on its laurels in existing core businesses such as home appliances, organic light-emitting diode (OLED) TVs, and telematics.

LGELECTRONICS is fostering robotics—which combines robot platforms, robotic intelligence, and data capabilities—along with AI data center cooling solutions and intelligent platforms for AI-powered vehicles (AIDV) and software-defined vehicles (SDV) as the core pillars of its future growth based on Physical AI.

The company cited its manufacturing and production data and know-how accumulated over decades, as well as its understanding of home environments and customers gained through hundreds of millions of products worldwide, as key strengths of its Physical AI business. It also highlighted its technological capabilities in the HVAC and automotive electronics sectors, along with experience manufacturing over 1 billion core components, as competitive advantages.

CEO Ryu said, “While we discussed future technologies here, including AI, robotics, and mobility, it is ultimately talent that shapes the future,” adding, “We will create meaningful change in the world alongside talent who are not afraid to take on greater challenges.”

To secure top global talent, LGELECTRONICS plans to hold recruitment information sessions starting on the 9th of next month at major North American universities, including MIT, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Michigan, Purdue University, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and the University of Wisconsin–Madison. In South Korea, the company has been conducting its second-half recruitment drive for new graduates in the fields of robotics, production technology, and electrical and electronic engineering since last month.
