DB INSURANCE announced on the 31st that it is supporting “Praise Café,” a hands-on financial education program operated by the Korea Yukyoung School.
The Korea Yukyoung School is a private special education school for students with emotional and autism spectrum disorders. It operates an integrated curriculum that spans from kindergarten through elementary, middle, and high school, as well as post-graduation career and vocational training. Through the school’s experiential financial education program, “Praise Café,” students learn economic concepts by directly operating and visiting the café.
When students follow the rules or complete assignments successfully, they receive praise coupons from their teachers, which they can use to purchase their choice of drinks or snacks at the café. Students participating as café staff gain experience in basic job skills while preparing for independence and financial life after graduation.
Since 2015, DB INSURANCE has been supporting the “One Company, One School” financial education program at schools nationwide to help young people develop sound financial habits and values. The company has enhanced its programs—tailored to students’ needs—including △hands-on activities using recycled teaching materials, △financial musicals, △financial education under the “Free Semester System,” and △financial education for high school seniors after the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT). Since last year, the company has also strengthened education focused on preventing financial crimes and improving students’ investment decision-making skills.
Starting this year, the company plans to implement “Financial Literacy Education Before Entering Society,” expanding the program to include not only high school seniors who have completed the CSAT but also third-year students at vocational high schools preparing to enter the workforce.
The company also provides life-cycle-based, customized financial education for child care centers, youth preparing for independence, and local self-sufficiency centers. Additionally, it offers parallel training for parents of minor children on how to teach financial literacy to their children at home.
A DB INSURANCE official stated, “We hope that through hands-on financial education, students will naturally develop financial literacy in their daily lives,” adding, “We plan to continue expanding tailored financial education across all stages of life.”
