[E-Daily Reporter Yun Junghoon ] The three major telecommunications companies—SKTelecom(017670), KTCorporation, and LG Uplus—announced on the 31st that they are launching the “One QR Scan, Double the Peace of Mind!” campaign to encourage the use of the ID QR verification feature on the mobile authentication platform “PASS.”

Recently, there has been an increase in cases of ID forgery and alteration using apps disguised as mobile ID screens or doctored images. In response, the three telecom companies launched this campaign to address the limitations of verifying ID authenticity solely by visual inspection on-site.

“PASS ID” prevents forgery and alteration by applying various security technologies, including △verification of service activation and device ownership △screenshot prevention △dynamic images △and verification time limits. Additionally, the three telecom companies plan to conduct a public service campaign to inform the public of penalties under the Road Traffic Act for ID forgery or alteration and to promote a culture of secure ID verification through QR scanning.

This campaign runs from today (August 31) through October 5, with the three major telecom carriers (SKT, KTCorporation, and LG Corp.) participating jointly. During this period, customers who verify another person’s ID using the QR authentication feature in the PASS app, or who use their own PASS ID QR code, can enter a prize drawing via the event page.

Prizes will be awarded to a total of 2,076 participants selected by random drawing from among those who enter, including: △ Galaxy Z Fold8 512GB (2 winners) △ Dyson Airwrap Coanda 2x Multi-Styler and Dryer (2 winners) △ Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses (2 winners) △ Golden Olive Chicken + 1.25L Coke(70 winners) △ Mega MGC Coffee Iced Americano (2,000 winners), among others. Winners will be contacted individually.

The three major telecom companies stated, “Through this campaign, we hope to establish a culture where people can verify their identities via QR codes without worrying about ID forgery or alteration,” adding, “We will continue to create an environment where everyone can safely verify their identities.”
