[Edaily Reporter YU JIN-HEE ] In-vitro diagnostics specialist PROTIA(303360)is set to fully enter the pet allergy and food intolerance diagnostics market, leveraging its unrivaled molecular and immunodiagnostic technologies. The company plans to build a unique product lineup capable of simultaneously screening approximately 310 antigens—the largest number in Korea—by capitalizing on its advanced technological capabilities.

PROTIA announced on the 1st that it is significantly expanding its lineup of allergy and food intolerance diagnostic kits for pets by utilizing its proprietary diagnostic kit manufacturing technology.

PROTIA is a leading company that developed Korea’s first allergy diagnostic kit exclusively for companion animals and obtained product approval for veterinary in vitro diagnostic medical devices from the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency. The company’s technological capabilities have been officially recognized through the acquisition of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ New Technology (NET) certification and its selection as a “World-Class Product” by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. Compared to existing skin reaction tests (skin prick tests), the new method identifies tens to hundreds of antigens at once using only a trace amount of serum, dramatically improving the safety, speed, and cost-effectiveness of testing.

In response to the recent surge in unexplained symptoms among pet cats—such as skin diseases, chronic vomiting, and diarrhea—PROTIA has introduced the “ANITIA Feline Food Intolerance Test 128,” which provides a precise diagnosis of “food intolerance,” a delayed-type food hypersensitivity reaction.

This product analyzes a total of 122 food antigens—including meat, poultry, and fish—in a single test by measuring specific immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies. Based on these results, veterinary clinics and veterinarians can clearly identify the substances causing dietary hypersensitivity and prescribe customized avoidance regimens and alternative diets.

Currently, PROTIA’s line of allergy and food intolerance products for companion animals enables testing for approximately 250 antigens. The company plans to launch a new product, “Anitia Allergy III,” later this year, thereby completing South Korea’s largest portfolio of veterinary allergy tests, covering a total of approximately 310 antigens.

PROTIA’s robust product competitiveness is directly translating into record-breaking financial performance. According to the company’s preliminary consolidated financial results for the first half of this year, revenue reached 9.17 billion won, a 40.2% increase compared to the same period last year (6.54 billion won). During the same period, operating profit reached 2.42 billion won, a sharp 66.1% increase compared to the same period last year (1.46 billion won).

The company’s strong market dominance in its core business—allergy diagnostic products—drove this earnings growth. In particular, the premium human diagnostic line “PROTIA Allergy-Q 192D” received favorable market reception by incorporating protein-based molecular diagnostics to expand its testing scope to include antibiotics and various chemical antigen components. The company plans to gradually apply its proven premium human diagnostic platform technology to the veterinary diagnostics market as well.

Growth in overseas markets is also accelerating rapidly. In particular, as a result of steadily expanding brand awareness and distribution networks in the Chinese pet diagnostics market over the past two years, export sales of veterinary diagnostic products in the first half of this year surged by more than 60% compared to the same period last year.

PROTIA official emphasized, “We are successfully expanding our unique multiplex diagnostic platform technology—proven in the human diagnostics field—into the pet healthcare sector,” adding, “As demand for veterinary diagnostic kits is exploding in global markets such as China, we will further accelerate our earnings growth in the second half of the year through new product launches and the expansion of overseas sales channels.”
