[Edaily Reporter YU JIN-HEE ] In-vitro diagnostics specialist PROTIA(303360)has decided to conduct a 50% stock split—allocating 0.5 shares for every 1 common share—marking the official launch of its shareholder-friendly management strategy. Building on its strengthened financial stability and solid profit trend, the company aims to solidify trust with the market and reinforce its medium- to long-term growth momentum.

PROTIA announced on the 29th that it will carry out a 50% stock split by transferring internal capital reserves to paid-in capital in order to enhance shareholder value and expand its capital base. The company explained that it made this decision to significantly strengthen shareholder returns based on its stabilized fundamentals and to solidify the capital foundation that will support its future growth strategies.

Under the leadership of CEO Im Guk-jin, PROTIA has systematically implemented three-year short-term action plans and mid-to-long-term growth roadmaps. By simultaneously advancing the enhancement of research and development (R&D) capabilities, the expansion of its diagnostic pipeline, operational efficiency, and the development of overseas markets, the company has driven structural improvements and strengthened profitability.

In particular, the company’s listing on KOSDAQ in June 2023 served as a turning point, significantly increasing its assets and capital while restructuring its profit and loss structure. In fact, over the six-year period from 2019—the year prior to the most recent stock split—to 2025, the company’s financial indicators showed remarkable growth.

Total assets grew by 106%, from 16 billion won in 2019 to 33 billion won in 2025, while total equity surged by 375% during the same period, rising from 6.5 billion won to 30.7 billion won. Paid-in capital also expanded by 155%, from 2.5 billion won to 6.4 billion won, building a solid financial foundation.

Conversely, the company significantly reduced its debt burden. Total liabilities, which stood at 9.6 billion won in 2019, plummeted by 76% to 2.3 billion won in 2025. The debt-to-equity ratio fell to approximately 24%, resulting in a clean financial structure that is nearly debt-free.

The turnaround in performance is also striking. Annual revenue skyrocketed by 290%, rising from 3.9 billion won to 15.1 billion won. In terms of profitability, the company broke free from its loss-making structure—which in 2019 included an operating loss of approximately 200 million won and a net loss of 1.3 billion won—and successfully established a profitable position by achieving an operating profit of 3.7 billion won and a net income of 4.5 billion won in 2025. The net profit margin, approaching 30% of revenue, demonstrated the company’s high-margin business model.

Growth has accelerated even further this year. Strong sales of its product lineup—which incorporates unique, proprietary patents—including allergy diagnostics for humans and animals, autoimmune disease diagnostics, food sensitivity tests, rapid antibiotic susceptibility testing (AST), and immune monitoring—played a key role.

PROTIA’s consolidated revenue for the first half of 2026 reached 9.17 billion won, a 40.2% increase from the same period last year (6.54 billion won). Operating profit for the same period rose 66.1% year-over-year to 2.42 billion won (from 1.46 billion won), demonstrating both growth and profitability.

Expansion into overseas markets is also within reach. According to industry sources, the global diagnostic market that PROTIA is targeting is projected to reach 73 trillion won by 2030. PROTIA expects to obtain certification under the European In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices Regulation (IVDR)—a mandatory requirement for entering the global market—for its flagship allergy diagnostic product line and next-generation autoimmune diagnostic product line by the end of this year.

A PROTIA official emphasized, “This stock split is a measure to enhance shareholder value as a way to reward shareholders who have trusted and supported us, based on the financial soundness we have built up over the years and the quantum leap in our performance,” adding, “While we will steadfastly continue global R&D investments to strengthen our technological competitiveness, we will also gradually expand shareholder return initiatives, including dividends, by comprehensively reflecting our profit levels and financial capacity going forward.”
