[E-Daily Reporter NA EUN-KYUNG ] Coreline Soft Co., Ltd.(384470)will supply artificial intelligence (AI) software for analyzing coronary artery calcification to Doctor Net, Japan’s largest telemedicine company. Following the acquisition of medical device approvals and the establishment of a local distribution network in Japan, the company has expanded its business scope to include a platform that analyzes millions of medical images annually.

Coreline Soft Co., Ltd. announced on the 13th that it has signed a supply and partnership agreement with Japan’s Doctor Net for its cardiovascular image analysis software, “AVIEW CAC.”

DoctorNet is a subsidiary of JMDC, a Japanese medical data company, and operates a teleradiology platform connected to approximately 1,500 medical institutions nationwide. The annual number of readings is approximately 3.2 million, averaging about 10,000 per day. Approximately 1,000 radiologists—representing about 15% of Japan’s radiologists—participate in the reading network.

Under this agreement, Coreline Soft Co., Ltd. plans to use AI to analyze chest computed tomography (CT) images referred to DoctorNet and provide the results of coronary artery calcium (CAC) analysis to medical institutions in the form of reports.

Coronary artery calcification is the accumulation of calcium in the walls of the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart, and it serves as one of the indicators for assessing the risk of coronary artery disease. eView CAC automatically detects and quantifies calcified areas in existing non-contrast chest CT scans without the need for a separate cardiac CT scan, thereby assisting medical professionals in their diagnosis.

A key feature is the ability to obtain additional information related to cardiovascular disease from chest CT scans originally performed for purposes such as lung disease screening. However, cardiovascular disease cannot be definitively diagnosed based solely on calcification analysis results; actual risk assessment must also take into account the patient’s clinical information and other factors.

The business significance of this contract lies in moving beyond the model of selling software to individual medical institutions to integrating the product into a teleradiology network used by multiple hospitals.
DoctorNet operates a service that receives requests for the interpretation of CT and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans from medical institutions, assigns them to specialists, and then returns the interpretation results to the medical institutions. Through its proprietary AI imaging diagnosis platform, “AI-RAD,” it also provides AI analysis capabilities to external companies.

Once Coreline Soft Co., Ltd.’s software is integrated into this system, it will be able to expand its scope of application to DoctorNet’s existing client medical institutions. However, not all of DoctorNet’s 3.2 million annual image readings will be subject to analysis by Coreline Soft Co., Ltd. The actual number of cases analyzed and the number of participating medical institutions will be determined based on future system integration and the scope of service operations.

Coreline Soft Co., Ltd. has recently been gradually expanding its medical imaging AI business in Japan. Last month, its proprietary lung nodule diagnostic assistance software, “AVIEW Lung Nodule CAD,” received approval from Japan’s Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) following a review. This month, it also obtained AI software certification from the Japanese Society of Radiological Sciences (JRS).

This certification is linked to the requirements for Japanese medical institutions to calculate additional fees when utilizing AI-based diagnostic assistance software under certain facility standards. This means the company has secured the institutional foundation to support the actual adoption and use of the software by medical institutions, following the regulatory procedures for product sales.

Separately, Coreline Soft Co., Ltd. has also signed a supply agreement with Japan’s M3 AI for the eView CAC. While M3 AI serves as the point of contact for local distribution and commercialization, DoctorNet functions as a service platform where actual image interpretation occurs repeatedly.

Japan has one of the highest numbers of CT scanners per capita in the world. It is considered a prime market for applying Coreline Soft Co., Ltd.’s “One CT, Multi-Disease” strategy, which leverages existing medical images to gather information on various diseases.

Coreline Soft Co., Ltd. has also established a track record of expanding usage through imaging diagnostics networks in the United States. The company renewed its subscription contract with 3DR Labs, a U.S.-based medical imaging post-processing firm, for the fourth consecutive year, and the client’s annual usage of aView increased by 60% compared to previous levels.

A representative of Coreline Soft Co., Ltd. stated, “In Japan as well, we plan to increase the actual number of analyses and the number of participating medical institutions through our collaboration with DoctorNet.”
