[Edaily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] #Mdevice Co., Ltd has unveiled for the first time the AI-based spinal measurement software it is jointly developing with Severance Hospital.
Mdevice Co., Ltd announced on the 13th that it participated in the “Korean Orthopaedic Association International Academic Conference (KOA 2026)” exhibition held in Suwon from the 8th to the 10th, where it unveiled its AI-based spinal measurement software, “MD-Spine,” for the first time. (Photo courtesy of Mdevice Co., Ltd.) MD-Spine is AI software that automatically segments the vertebral body region from full-spine lateral X-ray images, detects key landmarks, and measures spinal and pelvic alignment angles and distances. It is currently being developed to support the entire analysis process, from image segmentation to the measurement of key indicators and the visualization of results.
The company aims to reduce the workload on medical staff caused by repetitive manual measurements and improve the efficiency of spinal alignment analysis.
Mdevice Co., Ltd. and Severance Hospital have been conducting joint research on AI technology for measuring spinal and pelvic alignment since last November. While researching automatic measurement technology using actual medical images, the two parties are also examining the technology’s applicability and limitations through deep learning model validation, determining minimum training data requirements, and analyzing major failure types.
At this exhibition, the company introduced the key features and current status of R&D for MD-Spine and shared the potential applications and future development directions of medical imaging-based AI technology.
In addition, the company showcased high-performance solid-state drives (SSDs) and server technologies suitable for AI workloads and large-scale data processing. It also introduced PCIe and NVMe-based storage solutions, various form factors tailored to AI and data center environments, as well as data stability and power and thermal management technologies.
A Mdevice Co., Ltd representative stated, “We used this exhibition as an opportunity to showcase our medical AI software, joint research achievements, and enterprise storage and server technologies,” adding, “We will continue our research and development efforts and regulatory approval preparations to expand our technological capabilities and service competitiveness in the fields of medical AI and enterprise infrastructure.”
