[Edaily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] #PIE CO., LTD., a provider of AI-based manufacturing intelligence solutions, has signed a contract worth approximately 9.6 billion won to supply vision inspection systems to a global specialist in rechargeable battery equipment.
PIE CO., LTD. announced on the 13th that it had signed a contract worth a total of 9.55584 billion won to supply vision systems for rechargeable battery manufacturing processes. The contract amount represents 14.68% of last year’s consolidated revenue, and the supply period runs through the end of October 2027.

The company explained that this contract is significant in that it expands its business scope from the existing focus on electric vehicle (EV) battery inspection to the manufacturing processes for energy storage system (ESS) batteries.
PIE CO., LTD. supplies solutions that utilize AI-based vision inspection and data analysis technologies to manage quality in battery manufacturing processes. The company plans to use this contract as an opportunity to further refine the inspection technologies applied to large-scale ESS production lines and expand related orders.
Demand for quality inspections in battery manufacturing processes is expected to rise in line with the global expansion of ESS installations. According to market research firm BloombergNEF (BNEF), global new ESS installations—excluding pumped-storage hydropower—totaled 112 GW last year, a 48% increase from the previous year. BNEF forecasts that the annual volume of new installations will reach 308 GW by 2036.
Choi Jeong-il, CEO of PIE CO., LTD., stated, “Based on the high-precision vision inspection and image recognition algorithm technologies we have accumulated in the EV battery market, we have refined inspection solutions suitable for large-scale ESS processes.” He added, “Building on our collaboration with global partners, we anticipate securing additional orders both domestically and internationally in the second half of this year and next year.”
Meanwhile, in addition to rechargeable batteries, PIE CO., LTD. is expanding the application areas of its inspection solutions to include glass substrates for next-generation semiconductors, high-specification printed circuit boards (PCBs), and large automotive lamps.
