[Edaily Reporter An Yu-ri ] DANAL CO., LTD.(064260)announced on the 27th that it has been selected as a participating institution in the “Project to Expand Deposit Token-Based Payment Infrastructure,” part of the “2026 Blockchain Innovation Leadership Project” led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Information & Communication Agency (KISA).
This project will be operated as a private consortium led by the Korea Financial Telecommunications & Clearings Institute (KFTC), with participation from nine commercial banks, eight payment gateway (PG) companies, and two major client organizations. The project aims to expand deposit token payments into the private sector by linking with the “Project Hangang” system—the Bank of Korea’s CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency) pilot program—and plans to focus on creating tangible benefits that the public can experience firsthand, such as reducing fee burdens for small business owners.
DANAL CO., LTD. is participating in this project as a payment gateway provider, responsible for establishing online and offline payment services using deposit tokens and providing stable payment infrastructure across various merchant environments. Through this, the company plans to integrate payment systems so that deposit tokens issued by banks can be used in real-world commercial transactions, and to create a payment environment that is convenient for both consumers and merchants.
Furthermore, in line with the project’s goal of utilizing existing payment infrastructure without the need to build a separate payment environment, Danal plans to focus on enhancing payment stability and user convenience by leveraging its payment technology and service operation capabilities accumulated over many years. Through this, the company aims to contribute to the expansion of the private-sector payment ecosystem so that deposit tokens can become established as a common means of payment in daily life.
A DANAL CO., LTD. official stated, “This initiative is a crucial project that lays the groundwork for deposit tokens to be utilized in real-world commercial transactions,” adding, “Given our expertise in payment operations and technological capabilities across various fields—from traditional finance to blockchain—we will focus on building a payment environment that is convenient for both consumers and merchants.”
