[Edaily Reporter KIM JI-WAN ] RN2 Technologies Co., Ltd.(148250)announced on the 25th that it has completed the development of a Proof of Concept (POC) for a global payment system for stablecoin-based tourism vouchers in collaboration with “Road System,” a mobile identity verification solutions company.
RN2 Technologies Co., Ltd., a company specializing in advanced LTCC (Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) materials used in the telecommunications, semiconductor, and medical fields, is expanding its business into the digital finance sector through its Digital Solutions Division and its U.S. subsidiary.
Recently, the company entered into a partnership with Anchorage Digital—which holds official authorization from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC)—regarding institutional digital assets.
As part of its business expansion into the digital finance sector, the company collaborated with “Road System” to complete the development of a Proof of Concept (POC) for a global payment system using stablecoin-based tourism vouchers and plans to launch the system this coming September.
Through this POC, the company will verify the technical feasibility of settling dollar-based stablecoins held by overseas users via the infrastructure of legitimate digital asset and payment partners, and linking them to the tourism voucher and TripPASS payment infrastructure. Additionally, the company plans to verify the technical feasibility of implementing a payment structure that allows these stablecoins to be used at domestic merchant locations through the partnered payment infrastructure.
The Know Your Customer (KYC) phase of this POC will utilize the mobile passport eKYC technology from “Road System,” which won the CES Best Innovation Award. This technology enables the processing of mobile passport scanning, counterfeit detection, and biometric authentication in a single workflow, allowing for identity verification based on a unified standard. The company expects this to strengthen Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance, including consistent identity verification for foreign tourists and monitoring of suspicious transactions.
Jang Yang-ho, CEO of Road System, stated, “This POC marks the first attempt to integrate mobile passport eKYC technology into a stablecoin payment workflow. We plan to minimize the friction foreign tourists visiting Korea experience during the identity verification stage and unify the payment, top-up, and refund processes to validate a new standard for tourism payments through data.”
Kim Kang-ho, CEO of RN2 Technologies Co., Ltd., stated, “This project aims to verify the feasibility of foreigners using stablecoins to make payments at Korean merchant locations. We believe innovation will occur when eKYC technology meets global payment demand. This will serve as the starting point for transitioning to the commercial service phase.”
The company plans to conduct a thorough review of key regulations—including the Electronic Financial Transactions Act, the Virtual Asset Act, the Foreign Exchange Business Act, and anti-money laundering laws—during the POC process. It also intends to simultaneously engage a panel of external experts in finance, law, accounting, and taxation to verify the legal and accounting compliance of the results.
