UNION biometrics disclosed on the 6th that it had secured the “2026 Science-Based Access Control System Construction Project,” valued at approximately 17.1 billion won, excluding value-added tax. This is the largest single contract in the company’s history, and the company plans to strengthen its competitiveness in the defense and public integrated security sectors by expanding its portfolio of military-related projects.

This win follows the company’s execution of an Army project worth approximately 10 billion won in 2024 and represents a further expansion in contract size. UNION biometrics expects that the revenue contribution from this project, combined with growth in its existing domestic and international operations, will drive revenue expansion and improved profitability in the second half of the year.

UNION biometrics has secured Army contracts four consecutive times—in 2020, 2022, 2024, and now this year. The cumulative value of military-related contracts secured since 2020, including this one, amounts to approximately 42.9 billion won, excluding value-added tax.

Through its repeated execution of military projects, UNION biometrics has accumulated experience in system design, integration, and on-site deployment tailored to the military’s security requirements and the operational environments of individual units. The company explains that it has strengthened its capacity to execute large-scale projects by expanding its scope beyond simply supplying terminals to include software development, server and network deployment, and the integration of access control with video surveillance systems.

The company has also broadened its business base in the defense and public sectors. It is currently carrying out an access control installation project at the Ministry of National Defense headquarters and has experience implementing security projects at the Daejeon Government Complex, Gyeryongdae, the Marine Corps, the National Election Commission, and the Military Manpower Administration.

This Army project is a large-scale system integration (SI) initiative to establish a unified system for access control, video surveillance, and servers and networks across Army units nationwide. The core objective is to enhance the access management system for military facilities by connecting various security devices and systems, thereby supporting the scientific and advanced development of security.

Key security equipment will include products from UNION biometrics, which received a Grade 1 certification in the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) counterfeit fingerprint defense performance test. These products are equipped with heart rate sensor-based counterfeit fingerprint detection technology, which UNION biometrics was the first in the world to implement.

Based on its counterfeit fingerprint defense performance verified through accredited testing, UNION biometrics plans to counter unauthorized access using counterfeit fingerprints and strengthen biometric security at military facilities.

UNION biometrics will use this contract as an opportunity to accelerate the expansion of its integrated security business in the defense and public sectors. Building on the technological capabilities and track record accumulated through defense and public sector projects, the company intends to secure additional large-scale projects for public institutions and critical national facilities, while also strengthening its growth foundation through overseas market expansion and the development of next-generation platforms.

Gong Byung-chul, Vice President of Domestic Business at UNION biometrics, stated, “This contract—the largest in the company’s history—is the result of combining our superior biometric technology with our long-standing experience in military projects.” He added, “As we have a deep understanding of the military’s security requirements and field conditions, we will mobilize all our accumulated capabilities to successfully complete this project.”

He added, “We will use this contract as a turning point to expand our defense and public sector business, contribute to the scientific advancement and modernization of military security systems, and actively pursue even larger projects based on our proven competitiveness.”
