[Edaily Reporter Hong Ju-yeon ] Celltrion ( Celltrion(068270)) announced on the 27th that it recorded consolidated revenue of 1.3937 trillion won and operating profit of 451.8 billion won for the second quarter. These figures represent year-over-year increases of 45% and 86.3%, respectively. Following the first quarter, the company achieved its highest-ever quarterly revenue in the second quarter as well.

Celltrion explained that these results represent “qualitative growth,” reflecting not only a simple increase in revenue but also a simultaneous shift in its product portfolio toward new products (△Remsima SC, △Uplima, △Vegzelma, △Stekima, △Stovoclo·Osenvelt, △Aptozma, △Omriclo, △Idenzelt) and improvements in production efficiency. While sales of existing flagship products remained stable, global sales of high-margin new products increased significantly, and improvements in the cost structure were reflected in the results faster than expected.

Second-quarter performance was driven by growth as sales of high-margin new products expanded rapidly, while existing flagship products such as Remsima, Truxima, and Herzuma maintained stable market positions.

Among the existing product lines, Truxima secured the top market share based on the expansion of long-term supply contracts in the U.S. Remsima also maintained its leading position in key markets. Herzuma recorded a record-high market share of 78% in Japan and surpassed a 30% market share in Europe.

Sales of new products grew by 76% year-over-year, expanding their share of total biopharmaceutical sales to 65%. By product, Remsima SC surpassed a 32% market share in the five major European countries (EU5). Zimpentra, the U.S. version of Remsima SC, has also shown a steady increase in prescriptions since its launch. Uplima maintained its No. 1 market share in the European adalimumab market and continued to gain market share in the U.S. as well, driven by expanded supply capacity and distribution networks.

Celltrion plans to continue expanding the number of countries where new products are launched and the range of approved indications, aiming to increase the revenue share of new products to around 70% in the second half of the year. Celltrion forecasts that earnings growth will exceed that of the first half as the supply of volumes for tenders in major countries and the expansion of market share for new products gain momentum in the second half. Leveraging revenue growth drivers—including the expansion of new product sales to additional countries, the inclusion of products in U.S. PBM formularies, the supply of volumes secured through European public tenders, and year-end demand from distributors to build inventory—the company aims to exceed the annual revenue target of 5.3 trillion won and operating profit target of 1.8 trillion won set at the beginning of the year.

Following the launch of 11 biosimilars in global markets through last year, Celltrion is accelerating the development of its next-generation pipeline. The company plans to develop biosimilars for autoimmune disease treatments—such as Ocrevus, Cosentyx, and Talz—as well as anticancer drugs like Keytruda and Dazalex, with the goal of establishing a portfolio of 18 products by 2030. At the same time, in the new drug segment, the company is continuing to expand its diverse portfolio—including antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), multi-antibodies, and obesity treatments—through both in-house R&D and open innovation.

A Celltrion spokesperson stated, “Our second-quarter results demonstrate Celltrion’s cash generation capabilities and business competitiveness, as we achieved an operating profit margin exceeding 30% while continuing to invest in R&D for future growth.” The spokesperson added, “We will do our utmost to exceed our annual performance targets and enhance our corporate value over the medium to long term by continuously reinvesting the stable cash flow generated from biosimilars into the development of follow-on products and new drugs.”
